I will be going through who I think are in the Top 5 MW's out there, and If they can or cant get rid of Silva. Because if none of these guys can, no one ever will.

Give Cung a rematch with Frank, then send him to the UFC to fight Hendo or Rich, and if he wins, Then have him fight A Silva.

I still think Cung can out strike Silva. Cung has a chin, but A Silva, as much as he has fought, he hasn't really been hit hard. + I think If A Silva goes to round 3-4, He will gas. Cung seems like the perfect fighter without Sub skills. Hes got brutal punches, kicks and combos, with amazing TD's and tosses. Great elusivness and scrambles. and EXTREMELY AMAZING strength. Watchin him in his Shan shou or whatever u call it tourneys, K-1 and his total domination of Frank, I think he is #2 MW in the world right now, Its just most wont recognize that until he fights in the UFC. Its just how it is.

Paulo... Im gonna make it short and sweet, great fighter, that HAS NOT been tested, and In my book, overrated. If the WEC MW division "folds" into the UFC's MW division, I would like to see Paulo fight Cote or Rich. A well rounded fighter that can bang, and I dont think he could get passed it.

Hendo needs a rematch with A Silva. It looked like he was onto something until round 2. I say 1 more shot for him, if he losses, he has to move up a class. Hendo's style is almost PERFECT for A Silva. arguably #1 Chin in MMA, Great unorthodox striking, good wrestling, and one tough MF'r.

Rich is and always has been a Top tier fighter. But everyone has his kryptonite, and Rich's is A Silva. No matter who he trains with, what he does, I dont think he could ever beat Silva. Nog had Fedor, Ken had Tito, Page had Chute Boxe. Its just styles that dont match up. But the thing that he is doing on moving up to LHW, is perfect for him. Im not saying he will be LHW champ, but better start from the bottom and work your way up than always kno u will be #2 to Silva. Great move for Rich, and Im still a fan

D-Maia has proved himself to be one of the Top grapplers and jits practitioners in all of MMA today. With recent victories over TUF runner up Ed Herman, and Former contender Jason Macdonald, his name has gotten big over night. I remember being the only one yellin out "LETS GO DAMIEN" at UFC 83, and the only one going crazy when he almost had a Gogo. But does he have a standup game? Wandy seems to think so. He showcased just a tiny bit of his Thai skills against Mac, and J-Mac looked like he wanted nothing to do with it. But with all that said, can you beat A Silva with just Jits? Only Time will Tell.... right?

And Last but Certainly not Least, Renaldo Jacare Souza. He is the otehr Top grappler and jits practitioners in MMA today. With a total domination over Mayhem Miller, he is definitely not to be taken lightly. Currently in the running for DREAM's MW GP, and most likely the Favorite to win, His jits is scary good. 8 of his 9 wins came from Sub in round 1. His armbars are deadly. But, he has been KO'd before, in his first fight, so we might not know if it was significant or not, as a lot of Top fighters have been owned early in there carears. Jacare could be the one that would mount Silva, and finish him unlike Lutter.

All in all, the way I see it is Cung is the best candidate to finally take Silva off of his Throne, but If he cant, The MW Throne will have a permanent Silva ass groove in it, cuz if he cant, and if Hendo cant, Aint no way a MW can.

EDIT: Forgotten Honerable Mentions to : Cote, Macdonald, Bisping, Manhoef, and Frank. I didnt want to make a book so I only included the top 5, but all of the ones mentioned have legit chances to stop Silva.

I'd have to say Manhoef just because even Silva might not get up from those kicks if they connect.

Anderson is way too fast and long for Melvin Manhoef. Right now its Dan Henderson, but he still would not beat Anderson, but he would make it the most compititve. Rich Franklin? Are you serious. The real answer is Ronald Souza. Maybe not now, but in a year. I still would pick Anderson. But Souza has the most upside of these guys, is an amazing grappler, he needs to work on his hand speed, but he is a very very hard hitter. He could potentially put Anderson in a bad position and get a knockout or a sub. But really Anderson is untouchable right now. The only chance these guys will have is waiting for Anderson to age. Dude is from another planet. Freaky.

Like DiabloFreak i think there are 2 people on that list that could POSSIBLY beat Anderson. Cung Le isn't one of them though. I think that Dan Henderson and Jacare COULD do it.

Henderson has been in there once with Anderson already. He obviously has great wrestling which we saw in the first round of that fight but he got careless in the 2nd round. I think given a 2nd chance Henderson would possibly beat Anderson.

Jacare is one of the best up and comers in the sport right now. He has A LOT of power for his size. His striking has improved, but that doesn't matter because he wouldn't stand with Anderson if he wanted to make it into the 2nd minute of the fight. His BJJ is some of the best in MMA today, the only person better is probably Aoki. He also has very good takedowns. I think that if Jacare got it to the ground he'd have a VERY good chance and pulling off a submission on Anderson.

...then again, Anderson never loses haha

1. Robbie Lawler- # 2 MW in the world in my opinion. Robbie is a beast. He has great hands, kicks, knees, good wrestling good JJ. I believe Robbie would beat all other MW's besides Anderson.

there are only two...hendo and filho

cung le..no way....hes too short, is not as powerful as most people think, and the way he strikes he leaves himself wide open to strikes from someone who strikes like silva...cung le is overhyped plain and simple

paulo...if he has his head straight he could give silva a run for his money but i think he would come up short...throw in the friendship thing, and that can play in the outcome as well....i see anderson tatoo'n filho on the feet....easily....if it hits the ground, silva is good enough not to get caught, espcially since theyve trained so much together....filho's head is perfect height for a silva flying knee ko

hendo....has the best chance, he always has had the best chance....he got carried away his pride in the 2nd rd of the first fight....and maybe he would again and maybe he wouldnt....but he's tough enough to take a few punches to get to his part game....i had hendo winning in the first fight, and honestly would have him winning in a rematch now that hes learned his lesson

rich....rich is argubly the best middleweight in the world not named silva....like already said, everybody has theyre kryptonite

miea....shouldnt even be on this list....hes got great subs, but silva is good enough not to get caught in one....he needs to improve his standup but no matter how good he gets at it, he will never be as good as silva....as impressive as hes looked, hes got a long long way to go...i think thales liets is more of a vaible opponent that damien

souza...no way no how.....he beat miller, but miller still brought it to him.....he is in the same boat as damien

honorable mentions:
cote i think has the best chance of anybody to pull the buster douglas upset....but i see him getting subbed

bisping i see losing in the same way that fitch lost to st pierre...couple more years, and we'll see were hes at

manhoef actually has one of the better chances of anybody in the division, but at the same time, hes got a suspect chin and silva loves suspect chins

frank shamrock....hes not relevant to the sport anymore, hes past his prime, though he was once the man, no need to even think of the matchup now

on a side note, marquadt i think is another one that could give silva a run for his money, but in the end i still think he suffers the same fate as last time, just maybe in the 3rd rd this time....but still, hes legit and extremely well rounded.....also, okami...i think other than henderson, okami has the best shot...great wrestler, with good ground game, and good enough stand up to hang for a bit before executing his game plan

i think too many people are looking to ju jitsu and submisson specialists on beating silva...99 percent of the time it isnt gonna happen, hes really really good on the ground and wong get caught......other than a serra v st pierre type upset, the type of person to beat silva will be a strong wrestler that hang on the ground and good enough hands to hang a bit till he executes his game plan....the hendersons, okamis and even the marquadts of the world

I STRONGLY disagree with you on that. no way is Lawler the #2 middleweight. He's #5 in my book behind Anderson, Henderson, Franklin, and Okami, all of which would destroy him. i even think some guys like Marquardt and Maia could take him out. You also can't claim he's number 2 when all he has been doing is fighting B-C level fighters. The best fighter he has fought in the last 2 years is either Frank Trigg or Mayhem.

his hands are better than most and powerful but nowhere near silvas level...hes got good wrestling but not great...and hes got no jj....whatsover it seems.....plus hes shown capable of getting ko'd...i think hes number 5.....but thats a far cry from silvas level.....and interesting fight with him though, would be with frankling...theyre stand up style is very similar

i think hendo and franklin are on another level then all the other contenders and we saw what happened to them. i think hendo has the tools to beat anderson but he's got some work to do first before another shot.

Wow...really? You're being serious? I like Lawler and all but he is a sloppy mess when it comes to standup. He likes to bang way too much and Silva is not the guy to be banging with, unles your his wife (I'll assume he's married because I think he is).
