I don't really know who stands as each because many of the divisions are in such disarray that anyone could be primed to make a move. Guys like Lytle, Karo, Diego, Leben, MacDonald, Lambert, Jardine, Hardonk, O'Brien etc. who all win but don't put enough together for a title shot, could be gatekeepers but I think that would be underestimating their abilities.
Most of the UFC divisions are so stacked and deep now and they put together so many shows that up to 2 or 3 guys in every division could make a decent living as a heel or the good guy in the "gatekeeper" role.
My opinion tho.
Herring Lambert or Boetsch MacDonald UK- Paul Taylor US- Goulet Gurgel

I agree with everything but LHW, Gouveia definetly had the ability to beat Reljic and Jardine...he just lost is all.
Fisher definetly is the definition of a gatekeeper.

Also, levins is not even close to gatekeeper status...his lifes goal should be to one day get mentioned with the likes of Jason MacDonald and Jason Day.

Being a gatekeeper isn't necessarily a bad thing. IMO, it just means you'll crush cans, and always be a good test for those in the "upper" part of the division. Half expected to lose, but still, winning wouldn't be a shock. Or if you buy into what Joe says, you'll sub Jeremy Horn, have us hear millions of times Goldy saying you were victorious in your promos when you get brought into fight, and lose late first/early second, usually by TKO.

Tito would have probably been the gatekeeper before, but now I don't know. Wilson is still improving and is very talented, I'm sure he still has some tricks up his sleeves. Bonnar is also a good fighter, the dude just needs to use a game plan. He's a Gracie blackbelt but he chooses to brawl.

A lot of people have put Irvin as Gatekeeper, I think he will be out for a while after his failed drug test and might not even be back.
I think a good 185 gate keeper not mentioned yet would be Ed Herman. I think Jason MacDonald is to good to be a gatekeeper at the moment.
As for the other divisions all the names I can think of have already been mentioned. Just wanted to add a new name in.

Just because you can't beat the champion does not make you a gatekeeper. Basically, if you were going to rank all the guys in the UFC (and just the UFC) those who are ranked 13, 14, and 15 consistently are the gatekeepers.
Unfortunately for the UFC the Heavyweight division is so weak that due to lack of talent gate keepers like Kongo and Heering often get ranked in the top 5.
But yea, UFC normally has baout 30 contracted fighters in each division, so those who are always ranked in the middle and never move up nor down are gatekeepers.
