Ken Shamrock (Pictures) will be the fourth man to face Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson (Pictures) when the two icons clash at EliteXC’s third installment of “Saturday Night Fights” Oct. 4 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The headlining bout will anchor a live broadcast on CBS.

Sherdog.com confirmed the bout’s signing with multiple parties aware of the fight, while a press release is expected to circulate later today with the news.

The 44-year-old Shamrock (26-13-2) beat out fellow candidates Sean Gannon and Brett Rogers (Pictures), who called out Slice in May, for the coveted slot.

Shamrock, a 15-year veteran of the game who made his storied Octagon debut at UFC 1 in November 1993, has dropped his last five bouts in a row since 2005, including a lackluster showing against brawler Robert Berry (Pictures) at Cage Rage 25 last March.

However, “The World’s Most Dangerous Man” exudes substantial selling power for a match now only five and a half weeks away. A strong personality in and out of the cage, Shamrock’s 15 appearances in the UFC earned him international recognition alongside his original nemesis Royce Gracie (Pictures).

Slice (3-0) earned a third-round victory against Brit James Thompson (Pictures) in his last foray for EliteXC in May. The bout was much criticized for its questionable officiating, placing Ferguson’s skill set in doubt after Thompson held the advantage for sizable stretches of the 11-minute contest. Ferguson holds previous wins over David "Tank" Abbott (Pictures) and Bo Cantrell (Pictures).

Finally, someone that can put Kimbo away. I'd like to see Ken go out on a high note. As long as he's smart and takes Kimbo down, this shouldn't take long. Please Ken, do not stand with this guy.

This news would be exciting if it was the Ken Shamrock of olde...but it isn't

And after seeing Kimbo's last performance, it's like.."Who cares?"

I'll save my money and go buy some autographed KJ Noons championship gloves, I hear that they might be a rare item soon

Save money on what? The 4 cents it's going to cost you to run CBS on your TV for a half hour?

man when i first red the post i was thinking Frank Shamrock could of been a real good test. Now as for Ken Shamrock i think he will get knock out again, you should tell Slice to start blowing on Ken to hurt him that will prbably KO him

IMO, Ken's only hope for a W would be to get a takedown and leg lock in the first minute of the fight. I bet Bas will be working on leg lock defense with Kimbo if he is to fight Ken. Other than that, this is an easy KO for Kimbo.

Despite that, it's a better fight for Ken than Kimbo. Ken can possibly prevent a career from fizzling out by taking out a popular fighter. However, Kimbo has nothing to gain from the knowledgable fans from beating Ken, other than another W on his record.

if Shamrock wins i am going to go ballistic. i am honestly sick of Kimbo at this point. i really don't see why they didn't make him fight Brett Rodgers, who would have knocked him out in the first round.

They're still protecting Kimbo. That or they still don't want to give him Brett Rogers, but then again I think this is mainly a ratings/survival move. Although Ken isn't the fighter he used to be he still is a name draw that will put butts in seats and draw eyes to the tube, which is probably the main reason this fight was made. EXC realizes it's now or never.

smart move by elitexc, but their shameless attempt to build him up is getting old, the cat was out of the bag after the thompson fight.

So..... EliteXC is trying to stay afloat on Kimbo's name? I dont hate Kimbo hes a humble guy and best of luck to him but what a way to take a shot at the UFC imo using an over the top UFC legend to hype Kimbo. I'm actually kind of angry at this matchup because of the possible counter attacking within the orgs. but thats just me, I want orgs. to work together on some level at least.

Why are they afraid to make the Rogers fight especially with the controversy, this actually makes Kimbo look bad when he isnt even making the fights. If I was him, I'd make them sign that fight.
