To be honest he was really slippery and I don’t mean that like technically-wise, he was really slippery. I don’t know, I don’t want to speculate and say that something was used or whatever but he was just hard to hang on to and that was from all the positions. Even when I had him in like a headlock or a guillotine everything was just really slippery. When I get the position, when I get mount, when I get back-mount, I’ve fought and I’ve wrestled some of the best guys on the ground from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission wrestling to MMA and when I get those positions you’re not getting out and Roger was able to get out. It was pretty slippery so I was a little surprised. Just the first time I was mounted on him and he gave his back I was a little suspicious, I knew something was up. Who knows, all I know is I’m good at keeping those positions and I know the difference between sweat and something else and it felt like something else but who knows. (Jokingly) Maybe it’s Albolene left over from the day before from the weight cut!

-UFC lightweight contender Kenny Florian tells The Fight Card radio show that something didn’t feel quite right in his decision win over Roger Huerta at UFC 87: “Seek and Destroy” on August 9.

Florian IMO, is trying to make an excuse for why he didn't finish the fight after that little rant he went off on about "Who here wants to see fights finished? I finish fights!". I don't care how good Florian is at BJJ, he's no Alberto Crane and look at Crane/Huerta. Huerta fought a straight up ground match and looked great transitioning from submission attempt to submission attempt. I don't remember Crane trying to accuse Huerta of greasing. Huerta's just good at avoiding submissions, get over it Florian.

i love how kenny is getting shit for not finishing huerta, he hasn't finished one of his last four fights, i don't care how much he talked the criticism isn't justified. people just enjoy hating on him because he looks like a dork, throws elbows and is confident and it's pretty lame.

Laugh and kid but this is another hot issue. Use of slippery substances, as far as I know, has been an undetectable problem. (as far as I know) And It would make sense considering the fight was supposed to be a number one contender eliminator. Not saying Huerta did it but the guy's not exactly known for submitting people.

If I did it I would do it right though, butt naked and running around yelling "you're not gonna catch me!", like the guy from family guy

They accused big Tim of doing something like this too back when he went against Noguiera, kinda makes you wonder if they'll start doing like skin testing among the athletic commissions or something. Wouldn't be a terrible idea. I don't think Kenny would have brought this up just because he didn't finish, I think he probably would have said something about Sherk and steroids if he was like that. The Sherk thing kinda went without saying though, everyone knew Kenny got screwed after they pushed him to the back of the line for his loss to Captain Nandrolone.

When the ref checks fighters before they go into the cage this is the kind of thing he's supposed to be checking for. Problem is either the guys will use a substance that activates with sweat or the ref checking them has gloves on so he does not feel how slick the fighters are. There's plenty more ways than the ones mentioned to get around being detected.

Now, I'm not saying Huerta was greased up, but I'm not exactly doubting Florian either. Florian is a pretty straight up guy with a huge love for the sport. He's generally pretty damn respectable and I trust his word as a knowledgeable practicioner of the sport.

It's funny cause when I think of Huerta's strengths, its how he sprawls on the ground. It always looks like no one ever can get control of him when they take him down. Hearing this doesn't make me jump to say Huerta cheated but I wouldnt be surpirsed to find it true.

Either way, fight is over so no one cares

This is actually pretty old news. Florian was making the same statements on Sherdog radio the monday after UFC 88. But, to add fuel to the fire, check out the Beatdown After the Bell show for that night. TJ DeSantis mentions that the ref who checked Huerta before the match is actually a training partner of his.

DeSantis says at the time that he didn't think anything was up, but that it was a little unprofessional. But, when you connect the dots, it doesn't look good for Huerta.

Here's the origional post:

very old news.

and who cares, KenFlo still won. Excuses why u lose are normal but still pointless, Excuses on why u shoulda won in different fashion is just ridiculous. If KenFlo is still talkin about Huerta being greased, i would lose a lot of respect for him, but I think this quote is from a long time ago
