Quoteworthy:
“Nick Diaz is the No. 1 contender. K.J. Noons should step up and be the champion that we think he is and take this fight. Nick Diaz will take this fight any place, anywhere. (Noons’ management) won’t even return our calls. Hopefully K.J. wants the fight and hopefully he will instruct his management to take the fight. K.J. signed a contract. All we want is for him to honor that contract, fight on Oct. 4 on CBS, and prove that he’s the champion we think he is. Right now, he’s not representing us as the EliteXC champion.”
Elite XC Vice President Jared Shaw reveals he has been trying to put together a KJ Noons and Nick Diaz rematch for Noons’ lightweight title on the October 4 “Saturday Night Fights on CBS” event, but is having a hard time getting Noons’ camp to accept the fight. Could it be that Nick Diaz was right all along and the champ really is ducking a rematch? Of course, Noons did say in an interview right here on MMAmania.com that he didn’t really have a desire to fight on a CBS card, and he also said he planned on taking a couple boxing fights after his title defense against Yves Edwards. It’s possible that those things could be holding this fight up … we don’t know. What we do know is that Elite XC wants the fight to happen, and now it’s on Noons to step up.

If hes planning on taking a few boxing fights then hes going to be away for a while anyways, so if thats the case they should take his title back or set up an interm title.

ive never really been impressed by kj....his stand up is overated...his win against yves was impressive but its was flash ko after kj was already on the ropes.....diaz i think is finally getting his spark back cuz when they fought the first time, and against mushin gobbrey, he looked like he was just lacking drive...now that hes motivated, i see kj going to sleep in the first rd...or if diaz actually decides to use his excellent ground game for once, the fight will end quicker

Noons needs to stick with MMA where he is one of the better boxers. In boxing he'll get waxed by anyone decent from 140-160.

If what Shaw is saying is true, and Noons won't even return his phone call regarding a fight with Diaz, then in my opinion Noons is not a true champion. I truly believe Noons does not want to fight Diaz. Not wanting to fight on CBS? Wanting to box? Strip his title if he doesn't want to do MMA, and give someone a shot that will be a true champ, and defend it when asked against the #1 conteder.

I'm going to get flamed for this but Noons actually stands a good chance of beating Diaz if the fight goes the same way. I mean you just have to look at the state of his face after the first round then look at Noon's. Diaz standing will be outclassed. I know he's had the surgery to smooth up his bones and remove some of the scar tissue but that still doesn't change the fact the he's openly stated he wants to stand with Noons and KO him. If he tries this with Noons it will be a war that Diaz has a up hill battle to win. Take it down and I'd say Diaz anytime he wants. It all depends on how Diaz fights. If he lets his ego get in the way and stands it'll be a tough fight for him and a fight that Noons has a very real chance of winning. If he plays it smart Diaz should be able to put him away early and with a great sub that will prove he's the better fighter.

K.J. is very weak if he does not accept this title fight with Diaz....Who else is there for him to fight anyway, and if he does not want to fight Diaz they should strip him of the title.....

Ive felt like hes been ducking this rematch with diaz for awhile now, he needs to just man up and fight diaz, or give yp his damn belt.

God, I hope this fight happens...either that or KJ gets stripped. I really don't think he has much of a chance as far as rematches go..Diaz can beat him, and will beat him.

Noons is scared. plain and simple. he is afraid to fight Diaz again. Diaz will end it in the first IF Noons mans up and takes the fight.

Cue the flaming of KJ Noons based on this guy's unsubstantiated word. Noons had a fight less than three months ago, and he fights for a company that doesn't throw that many cards. I think I'll wait for a bit before I call him a coward.
Just me, though, 'cause, you know, I'm rational. Please continue.
