It’s Jason mania.

Jason MacDonald (20-10) will fill-in for an injured Jason Day and take on Jason Lambert (23-8) in a middleweight bout at UFC 88: “Breakthrough” at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., on September 6, according to Sherdog.com.

“Dooms” apparently hurt his biceps muscle while training for the fight and was forced to withdraw, opening the window of opportunity for another Canadian to claim redemption.

“The Athlete” is coming off a third round submission loss to Demian Maia at UFC 87: “Seek and Destroy” earlier this month. It marked the third loss in his last five attempts inside the Octagon — quite a departure from his early success that earned MacDonald the nickname “TUF Killer.”

I think this match is a little more even. Should be a toss up.

In the end Lambert probably has the better wrestling to take him down for some GnP.

since ifs Macdonald fighting him now, then I have to say this will be Lamberts last fight in ufc. I dont think he's very good. and I dont the drop to mw will make any difference. he's 4-3 in ufc and he hasnt fought great competition. He KO'd Babalu (best fighter he's fought in ufc). However, he's beat Terry martin, Rob Macdonald, and brandon lee hinkle, none of which are very good.

I am going to have to go with MacDonald in this one. I think he has more ways to win this fight. Good stand- up, and his last fight with Maia was a BJJ clinic. Back and forth with a guy of Maia's talents in his game is saying somthing. I always thought that Lambert should be fighting at 185 but i dont htink this is the fight he wanted debuting in a new weight class. True MacDonald has lost 3 out of his last 5 but its been against the best of the best in the MW division. Franklin, Okami, and Maia. nad he gave all of them a run for their money. J-Mac vis sub early 2nd

Hmmm no one is giving Lambert any credit, the guy has heart and big power in his hands. MacDonald is more rounded but I still think that Lambert can finish it in one punch....

I'm goin out on a limb.....Lambert 2nd Round KO

i agree with you, lambert is going to be the stronger and more powerful puncher and i dont think macdonald will get the fight to the ground. Macdonald might get some shots from the outside but then lambert will land a big punch and get the tko.
