In an exclusive interview with Mmabay, top 205 pound contender, Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, he told us how he intends to use Thiago Silva’s aggressive style against him and how he expects to knock him out.

Machida, when asked about his next fight said: “I love to fight aggressive fighters, because the more aggressive they are the better it is for me. It suits more my style.

He continued: “I’m going to over power him, I know Thiago is a very tough guy, but I’m gonna put on a strong pace. I know when I hit him, he is going to feel my hard punches and my hard kicks and I’m gonna look for a knockout.”

With the fight scheduled for October 18th, look for fireworks between the two Brazilian’s who are both coincidently 13-0 in their mma career’s.

no kiddin!!!......that is creepy stuff.....back to the subject, i think he is right...machida is patient and a counter fighter...styles make fights, so if he has someone that is a counter fighter or methodical, then its going to be a boring fight....throw in an agressive fighter against a counter fighter, and you got the makings of a war....i wouldnt be suprised if he catches silva, sivla is still a bit wild coming in

Agree.
Remember, Silva almost got flash KO'd by Antonio Mendez in his last fight.

Somehow I see this fight not ending in a knockout victory for Machida.

Didn't he say the same thing about Tito? Doesn't change a thing Machida UD. He's not going to KO anyone unless he changes his style.

I expect another beautiful, strategic performance by Machida. Thiago is just the guy to try to press the action aggressively, so this is definitely a good test for Machida.

Really the safe pick here of Machida UD, i don't think Silva matches up too well against him, should be an awesome fight though

Machida will be looking for the knockout but in the process will get knocked out by Thiago!

Probably the stupidest thing Machida could do is look for the KO. He just doesn't have it in him. If Machida keeps to his elusive style I think he easily walks away with the UD. If Machida decides to start headhunting and aggresively looking for the KO, the he will probably get KOed by the former Chuteboxer.

A good general rule of MMA: Do not stand still and trade in range of a Chute Boxe fighter. See Wandy vs. Jardine for example.

I think he's contradicting himself.... he said Thiago's style is good for his and he'll look for a KO ? ..... If he doesn't change style he won't KO Thiago, and if he does, Thiago will KO him.

Thiago KO 2nd

Great matchup for him. Of course he gets the KO by countering a super aggressive style. Someone like Chuck could hold out 15mins and try for a dec, someone like Silva is goin home ktfo'd.
