Found this article from Yahoo! interesting. It mainly talks about the financial situation of EliteXC. Thought I would share it with you.

The most interesting thing in there is that the last WEC did poorly. I never heard anything about that. Im shocked it didnt at least improve on their previous average of a .5 rating.

I would expect the Faber event to do better but i would have thought that would have given them some extra fans to watch this one.

As for the EliteXC situation, i think it comes down to a matter of advertising. My dad who has never watched an MMA event in his life, knew that the first EliteXC event was on because he was talking to me about Kimbo Slice the day before. I didnt even know the second one except from MMA websites. Thats not exactly getting the word out to casual fans is it.

One very important thing to keep in mind about WEC: They have a deal with a cable network that the overwhelming majority of people who have it don't know about/can't find. And not everyone can get Versus either, so for them a .5 rating on Versus is very good. And the last WEC was not Faber-Pulver, that was the one before it.

I was saying that i would expect the Faber-Pulver one to do better than the Condit-Muira one but i would have thought that the success of the Faber one would have given more momentum to the Condit one. Hopefully that makes more sense.

Well judging by the ratings Elite XC's are very good when Kimbo fight, not so good when he doesn't so I can see that point of view.

Well, since he's only fought the one time, it could just as easily be that their ratings were so much lower the second time because of Kimbo turning them off to MMA in general. His fight ended with controversy and wasn't even exciting before that. It could've hurt their credibility, since they hyped him so much.

If the title's right then EXC better keep protecting him. That means we won't see Kimbo vs anybody that's anygood for a long time.

the first show made me cringe when i thought about it as someone's first exposure to mma
the boos during the lawler-smith bout were embarassing to the whole mma community imo
