Fox tv is starting a 13 week reality show. on the show there is goin to be 3 man mma matches. 3 men will start off in the ring, (using san-choa rules) once someone gets TKO'd or KO'd the remaining 2 men will fight mma rules.
Louisvilles own
John Tryoyer will be taking on Ryan Meegars and TBA
Matt Troyer will be taking on Zach Day and Jeff Brown
Derek sawyer will be taking on 2 heavyweights.

I dont like this idea at all. I think its more of a circus show act, than an mma contest

Sounds more like modern day gladiators.
Seems more based on entertainment of the slaughter, as opposed to MMA.

I can never see this being passed by the Athletic Commission, three guys fighting at the same time? Don't think this is going to happen. I definitely can't see them doing this on Fox.
It sounds more like a scene from Bum Fights.

EDIT: Do you mean Sanshou rules?

Did some research on Sanshou rules, if that's what you meant (since I couldn't find anything on San-Choa.)

Rules can be found here.

Thats disgusting. And, it's a shame that stuff like this still goes on. It makes mma look bad in the media. They have been trying, successfully i might add, to shake the barroom brawler stereotype and be thought of as athletes. Some ridiculous stunt like this could only lead to bad things. Lets hope it never happens.

it is happening. heres bulliton they posted

They are to compete in the first ever 3man competition, 3 men start in the ring at once, while on thier feet it's San-Chou rules (punch, kick, throw), when 1 of the 3 is tko'ed or Ko'ed, the remaining 2 fight MMA.

Strange, but sounds very interesting!!

This will be featured on FOX as a 13 week reality show.

So if anyone is interested in sponsoring these 2, let me know!

John will be squaring off against Ryan Meegars and TBA

Matt will be squaring off against Zach Day and Jeff Brown

Derek Sawyer will be squaring off against to heavyweights

This ought to be very exciting, the fights will air, in December or January,

So Thursday we off to Virginia beach to try San-Do for the very first time, the fighters will fight in their gi's with 6oz MMA gloves!

I will update and let everyone know how this turns out!!

Good luck John, Derek and Matt!!

Thanks

A Brief Overview of the Rules for San-do

The rules of San-do have been designed for the spectator as well as for the competitor’s safety, and are intended to be fair for all styles. Bouts will consist of three 3-minute rounds, with a one minute rest between rounds.

The fighters will use San Shou rules when three fighters are in the ring. They will use Mixed Martial Arts rules when two are in the ring.

The San-do fighter will wear his or her own clean traditional Gi; no shorts, no shoes.

San-do uses two referees for safety.

All bouts will be evaluated and scored by four judges. The 10 point must system will be the standard system of scoring a bout. Judges will evaluate mix martial arts techniques, such as effective striking, effective throwing, and effective grappling, control of the fighting area, and effective aggressiveness and defense.

Legal Techniques: San-Do

A. Along with legal kicks and punches above the waist, contestants may use legal kicks to the legs (not the Knees) and elbows to legal target area. Use of knees and elbows is restricted to legal target areas below the neck.

B. Leg sweeps, boot to boot, or calf to calf to the inside and outside of the contestant’s foot are permitted.

C. Kicks may be made with the shin or foot.

D. Kicks to the inside and outside of the contestant’s leg are permitted.

E. Direct sidekicks to the legs are not permitted.

F. Contestants are permitted to catch their opponent’s leg and take up to two steps. Contestants may strike anytime during the two steps, but must release the leg when they strike or by the end of the two steps.

G. Kneeing is permitted if one contestant is active within the clinch.

H. Clinching without kneeing is permitted for five seconds to execute a throw, sweep or takedown.

I. All types of Judo and wrestling throws are permitted except spiking one’s opponent directly on the head.

J. All chokes and joint locks (excluding finger locks) are permitted standing and on the ground.

K. No ground fighting with three contestants in the ring.

L. Knock downs will be given a standing eight count with the other referee holding the other two fighters in a neutral position.

Infractions:

The referee may issue a warning, deduct points or disqualification as necessary.

v No striking to the groin, throat, spine, kidney, no elbows to the head, or against any joint.

v No head butts, biting, pulling hair, eye gouging, or pinching.

v No finger locks.

v No use of the fingers or thumbs to manipulate the nerves in or around the eyes and neck.

v No running out of bounds simply to avoid engaging with the opponent.

v No striking to the head once fighters go to the ground.

v Timidity (Avoiding contact, or consistent dropping of the mouthpiece, or faking an injury);

v Unsportsmanlike conduct or inappropriate behavior by fighters will not be tolerated, and will be cause for immediate disqualification.

Really not liking what I'm hearing. Like you said, it sounds like they're making a circus out of MMA. There's also another reality show that I've heard chit-chat about, "Fighting Fedor", has anyone heard about this one? Supposedly they round up a bunch of guys to duke it out ove ra period of time and the winner gets a shot at Fedor. Also sounds really strange, and I just can't picture Fedor doin git but who knows?
