GSP hits back at Matt Hughes's comments, also discusses the fight with Fitch and his feelings about BJ entering the ring...Link

He basically says if Matt comes into the fight and trains the same way he did for his last two fights he will lose, but goes on to say how if he trains hard and has a focused approach it will be a very interesting fight. GSP is classy as always and doesn't really bash HUghes like mmamania make it out to be but its a good interview. Hope that gets you through work man!

GSP is right about hughes, even though i want hughes to beat serra. I just see the hughes/serra fight going to decision prolly for hughes.

gsp is right...hughes has been bringing it since probably the second trigg fight....hughes should retire after this fight, mainly cuz the fight game has past him..hes still too one dimensional for the scene today....i do think serra is too small and should go back to lw, and i also think the only way he wins is by ko/tko....but come on', who actually cares about or listens to hughes? really....hes the cockiest guy in mma that doenst back it up

maybe hughes should come out as a south paw again.....lol, yeah that fitch/GSP fight was boring...????? That's the Hughes translation for competitive, nowadays exciting means getting koed or submitted in devastating fashion in the 2nd round.

I'm actually a Matt Hughes fan. The guy is 43-7.....I'm not really sure how he doesn't back it up. Now I will say he got his ass beat in his last two fights LOL so GSP is definitly on to something. Hughes actually didn't look bad at all against Chris Lytle....and I'm not too sure that GSP isn't just that dominant in general, but Hughes didn't look good against alves at all. The fact that I like hughes makes me want to give him some cushon just because Alves was definitly bigger than Hughes in that fight, but the truth is Alves is just bigger, faster, stronger, and a big flying knee puts just about anybody on their ass. Hughes is not one dementional. Yes, he is a world class wrestler, but he has very strong semission skills and his ground and pound isn't too shabby either. Problem is....serra has better JJ and is probably more dangerous on the feet so we'll see how it pans out. I don't think Serra is going to be strong enough to defend Hughes' shot so it looks like a decision for Hughes to me, but we'll see. Hughes has been caught in a few submission during his career too and Serra is a black belt. Regardless a lot of people like Hughes....and a lot of people want him to get beat up...a lot of people like Serra....and you guessed it a lot of people want to see him get beat up so it will be an exciting fight for fans either way.

Eh...a few fights ago, I would've said Hughes by decision. But after seeing his last fight, I don't know anymore...I still want him to win, but all Serra has to do is catch him with one real good punch and it could be all over then..

Way too late......I used to be a huge Hughes fan, and now i cant stand the sight of him.....Its not because he has been loosing its the fact that he has no respect for any fighters that beat him.....He just seems to be full of excuses lately and i cant stand all the crap hes been talking after loosing three of his last four fights...

I have to agree with GSP even though I'm not a big fan. Hughes just hasn't looked the same lately like he used to. I'm wondering if he's spending too much time on his new fight team and not enough time in the gym. If he puts some serious time into his training camp to fight Serra he will beat him. If he goes in like he did against GSP and Alves he will lose. Point blank.

The reason I'm picking Serra to win this fight is because of the fact that on the ground, Hughes is kind of a one dimensional wrestler and Serra is a great jiu jitsu guy. I know he doesn't have many submissions in the UFC, but he might be able to pull one off in this fight.
Also, they are probably about even in skill on the feet, but Serra has heavier hands and will be able to get a (T)KO if it stays standing.
