Heath Herring was convincingly defeated by Brock Lesnar at UFC 87 on Aug. 9 at the Target Center in Minneapolis by unanimous decision. Unhappy with his performance and the outcome, Herring looks to the future and would eventually like a rematch with the Division I collegiate wrestling champion and former World Wrestling Entertainment superstar.
Herring had high expectations heading into the octagon against Lesnar, but was caught by a right hand in the opening moments of the bout that sent him and his expectations crashing to the canvas.
"I think that shot pretty much changed the whole dynamic of the fight," said Herring. "I sure would like to know what would have happened if it hadn't landed."
"Once that right hand landed it was like I was fighting half blind, or pretty much blind at that point. It was all pretty much downhill from there," explained the 30-year-old heavyweight. " I just tried to come back and mount some type of offense. Unfortunately, I was never able to mount anything that significant...After getting rocked with a shot like that, and not being able to see, you're more in survival mode."

I had money on Herring but after the schooling that LEsnar gave him i think the outcome would be the same if they went for a rematch. no interest in seing it either...

No need for a rematch. The fight wasn't close, Herring looked unimpressive.

He keeps bringing up the punch to the eye and how it changed the whole outcome of the fight. Well guess what Heath when you are in a fight you get hit and he completely dominated you. Why would Brock want a rematch and why would any fan want to see a rematch. You dont deserve a rematch so quit with the talk and move on...

Fighting half blind throughout a whole match would suck. But I'm not sure the fight would have been any different if he was fighting with full sight. Herrings takedown defense is not very good at all and Brock could have easily taken him down anyway. So I wouldn't see this fight going any differently than it did the first time.

I think it was a good article.. He gives Brock credit for landing the blow.. though he states things basicly would have been different if it did not land.. my thing is.. If Herring strings together some wins and brock keeps winning maybe they will meet again.. though I think the fight would go differently.. I think Herring is about as good as he is going to Get... Brock is going to get alot better from what I have seen so far.. A rematch I think would end up ALOT worse for herring then the first match went... though I would not be surprised to see one if Herring can win his next several it just may happen.. though I think Brock might end up with a title shot before that... .... If Mir loses Brock will certianly get a rematch and I think a rematch would be in brocks favor... if Brock beats him really there is no one else but to do but give him a title shot

his next fight should be against Velasquez or Carwin. It would be a good test for either fighter and we'll be able to tell where either truly ranks in the UFC HW rankings.
