to be honest i agree with him on this. i love the ufc but i mean who wouldnt be pissed about getting asked to take a pay cut when your a top 10 LW. without a dbout i understand what he is saying..

but i would love to see him fight BJ or Florian

At the time that UFC bought Pride he wasn't really a top 10 in most peoples eyes and his record at the time wasn't the greatest. In his last 6 fights before the buyout he was 3-3. He also was taken to a very close SD fighting Yves Edwards is one of those wins who was later destroyed by Joe Stevenson(an unranked LW at the time). Plus you have to take in to account he wasn't even known in the US and still isn't. We also don't know how much his contract with Pride was. To Pride he was worth more than he was to the UFC because he was well known in Japan but that doesn't translate to the US market. There also may have been something in his contract that the UFC didn't like as well. Pride's contracts were just short of not even being legal because a lot of them were mainly verbal in nature. Now not saying I agree that they should have payed him half his money but I'm also not saying the UFC was wrong. The fact is we don't know all the details of what went on. Only thing we know is just what Hansen said and this "Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen, who was none too pleased when Zuffa bought Pride and tried to offer him 1/2 of his contracted salary for a fight against Marcus Aurelio." that's not much to base a intelligent understanding of things.

If you want to fight on the biggest stage - then get in there and show why you are the best. If you are the best, the $$$ will follow.

half the money isnt that bad when you fight more than twice as much, guy needs to get over himself, he's good but he's no threat to the ufc's lw division. we'll see what tune he's singing when dream goes under.

He would probably beat just about everyone in the UFC's LW division. I don't see how you reason he wouldn't be a threat. If the UFC's lightweight division fought in the same division as all of the lightweights fighting in Japan most of the top UFC LWs would end up being middle of the pack other than BJ and sherk who would both remain near the top of the heap.

I have a really hard time seeing guys like huerta or florian beating guys like hellboy and aoki. I think stevenson, sherk, and penn would beat him, I don't too many others in the division would do very well with him though.

People on here needs to understand that it's not only about being offered half the pay but more about the fact that they refused to cut him and let him fight elsewhere and make money. So they had him locked up in a contract but had no intention of offering him any fights on that contract. I can't see how anyone would defend that kind of bullshit.

I don't really understand how you guys are saying this. I'm pretty sure winning the Dream LW GP qualifies for fighting on the biggest stages and showing you're one of the best. The hellboy doesn't run from anyone and ALWAYS puts on exciting fights.

Even back in the day when all of this was going on he was scoring impressive KO's and fighting in PRIDE on the big stage.

MMA in japan will never die. Period. If one promotion goes under guaranteed another will arise.
