I’d love for the UFC to step up and make the fight [with Fedor Emelianenko] happen. It has the potential to be the biggest mixed martial arts fight to date…It has the potential to do 700,000+ pay-per-view buys which is a helluva lotta money. I think 6-10 [million should be the salary] for each of us and they’re still gonna make a boatload of money on top of that.

Now I am beginning to believe that this fight will never happen. No way any promoter can make it happen at that price tag.

I miss the Randy who didn't seem to care so much what he made, as much as winning a fight and doing it for the fans.

Hasn't the UFC had a couple events do over a million buys?

This 700,000 number sounds about right given Fedor's lack of drawing success thus far in America.

No way they should each make more than $2,000,000 for this fight.

They've only had 1 event do over a million, which was Tito/Chuck II. A pretty good PPV will do 400-500k. To put it in perspective:

Ortiz/Shamrock II = 775k
Chuck/Rampage = 675k
Sylvia/Couture = 540k

They could do 700k, but only if the fight happens in the UFC.

Im sorry but thats just plain greedy. Mabeys fedor deserves a million or more a fight, but randy doesnt.

randys lost his mind if he thinks that both will get paid that much for this fight. it has the potential to be great in his eyes but i think fedor will make him look silly. the ufc gets blamed alot for not paying there fighters n i wont get into that but they are a business first and business wise they will never make near that unless that business wants to go out of business

what ever happend to fighting for the love of the sport???....6-10?....if your not de la hoya or mayweather, your not getting that much in boxing.....this whole money thing is pathetic, this sport is in its current stage 15 years old....and theyre expecting the pay to rise fast and high...when boxing was only 15 years old, they werent getting s*** at the time...fighters need to shut the f*** up and fight, do your job and act like a man....and oh yeah, randy couture if pathetic drama queen loser, i wish he would retire so i dont have to constantly hear about a guy i once admired and now despise

A scale pay based on PPV sales would be more appropriate. I don't believe he really thinks he should be payed nearly 20 times him typical pay. He should be careful of making such absurd statements because it tarnishes his image. It almost seems like he's not as interested in the fight as he is in the payout, and I just can't believe that's the way Randy thinks. I'm almost positive it's something he wishes he could take back.

I respect your opinion, but fighter bashing isn't called for.

what about Chuck Tito 2, I thought that was over 700k

but anyways, Now that its probably not CC fighting Fedor at new years, and AA isnt fighting him either, the only ones left are Barnett and Randy. And I have heard rumors that Tito might be interested in moving to HW, but all in all, if this fight doesnt happen this year, it wont happen. Randy can only get older.

but how much do ya ll wanna bet even if this fight doesn't happen, it will happen behind closed doors. For all we kno it already happend.
