Couture: Well, the language in [my UFC] contract is pretty clear. It’s 18 months or four fights and the 18 months expired on July 19, so we’re in a 30-day grace period for negotiating or re-negotiating with the UFC. If they find a way to make the Fedor fight happen, I’ll be all over it, but I don’t really see that happening realistically. The non-compete clause expires on Oct. 10, a year from when I resigned, and so I’ll be able to go back to work commentating and working with the other promotions and getting back into the business of MMA.

I've always heard that the 18 months part means nothing unless all four fights are fought.

I'm sure that sometime around late september Zuffa is going to appeal to the courts to prevent him from working until the case is resolved. I have a hard time believing that if the language is really that clear that it would take them a year of legal battles to figure it out.

I think it depends on who you talk to. Couture and Zuffa have two different versions of what the contract states. Unless we see the original contract, we will not know what the situation is. From the sounds of it, Zuffa has a more realistic case on what the contract actually says.

I think Randy stood a legitimate chance against Fedor over a year ago, but now there's just no way. This fight will never happen anyway.

I would still love to see this fight.
However,I think Randy should first fight Nogueria to prove he really is the number one contender.I think he's trying to bypass Nogueria because their is more money outside of the UFC,and Fedor is largley regarded as the best.
