Brock Lesnar is a God … in Minnestota.
It’s hard to explain the unbelievable (and deafening) reception that Lesnar received last night from the hometown crowd that packed the Target Center to watch him take on Heath Herring at UFC 87: “Seek and Destroy.”
We were seated in section 100 and could not hear anything besides the roar of the crowd, which totally drowned out the voice of Bruce Buffer during the pre-fight introductions. In fact, my ears were ringing well after the lights came down to signal the end of the show.
To his credit Lesnar did an amazing job of whipping the crowd into a frenzy, hoisting his massive limbs in the air if he wanted to raise the volume inside the venue, throwing gloves and shirts into the stands and hijacking the microphone to deliver a dramatic speech.

I felt like he showed absolutely no class to Herring who was able to last the three rounds. If you want to run around and act like a champ then at least finish the guy. He is believing his own hype too much.

Maybe it is like this everywhere, but in Minnesota we are definitely homers. We love our own I don't know why but that is just how this state is. The really sad part is Lesnar is not originally from Minnesota, he does live here now though.
This is not a terrible thing to be except often we don’t take into account if you deserve the support and loyalty.
Even me who was bashing Lesnar before the fight is secretly happy the U of M alum won something. I’m embarrassed to say it but it is the truth.

I'm with you on that one. He got his free pass from me on Saturday night. If he does it again, I will ALWAYS root for his opponent when he fights.
I'd like to hope that something is said to him to prevent this from happening again.

I will take his 5 seconds of meathead trash talk any day over giving a mic to BJ or Tito.

Me too...if he were still in the WWE.
What was the line he said about riding the horse out of town? My buddy and I looked at each other after he said it and started laughing. I asked my buddy, "I wonder if Vince McMahon is still scripting Brock's interviews?"
There's no room for that crap in the UFC, in my opinion. It's almost as bad as the cheesy post-fight staredowns/callouts.

BJ and Tito have earned the right in the octagon to say whatever they want. Champs are allowed to talk trash.

I can see where your coming from with Tito but BJ Penn? He has one of the biggest presences in the sport when he walks into the octagon. How can you not love hearing him talk about licking his opponent's blood off his gloves. BJ is a nut job, Tito is just full of sh*t.

I don't know what to think about Brocks antics but I do know it should be expected. Hes coming from the WWE its second nature to talk smack and hype up the crowd. Its prob not going to be excepted by MMA fans but its what he did for so long.
I would also like to take this time to thank everyone who convinced me to change my pick from Brock to Heath, that really worked out for me. I have said it before but I am not changing my picks agian.

Funny how people come out of the wood work to bash Brock for his post-fight actions. Why not hate on Irvin for shooting his opponents with an imaginary gun, BJ for licking his opponents blood, Kendall Grove and Tito for the grave digging thing.
I dont like what Brock did, but come on you have to kind of expect it with everything he had to prove in that fight and the fact that he was in his hometown. He did show some class after his loss to Frank Mur, so I think the emotional high had alot to do with it.

Brock was an a$$.... Did Mir make fun of him when he beat him? Nope.... All he did was lay his heavy a$$ on heath and hold him down... I will give him the credit of his first punch.. That was a good one..

I dont get why everyone is so upset with Brock and his post-fight celebration. The man was just excited he won his first fight in the UFC. I know I would proabably go crazy if I won a fight in the UFC. You guys act like he insulted you personally. It didnt even bother Heath Herring, so why should it bother you? Even Heath knows that if you dont want someone saying 'Told you I would whoop your a$$' after the fight, then just beat them in the fight and then they cant say anything.
If you want to pull for or against somebody in a fight based on the way they act and not for the fighter that they are, thats fine. Everyone has favorites and thats how most of us choose ours. But if you are turned off by a little smack talking here and there, then you need to find a new sport to watch. Its the fight business and there will always be some of that going on.

Credit for the first punch is not due. He cocked back and telagraphed that punch so badly. I don't think Heath ever expected he to trow a punch and was prob waiting for him to shoot and was going to counter with a knee. Had he used a little head movement to the right on that punch he would have prob knock Brock out. I will give Brock credit for his speed and cardio.

finishing hh isnt easy. nog the ufc hw champ didnt do it. fedor did it by a cut. brock is goin to get blamed for one thing or another. hes his own person and to bash him for what he did once is premature abit. if he continues to do it ok. but when hh beat kongo then made excuses for his win being boring why wasnt he getting bashed. people LOVE gsp but he made excuses for his loss to serra in a classless manner yet people still are on his nuts. the ones who like him will overlook it same as the gsp thing and everyone else who celebrates after a win. people who dont will point out any and all flaws. brock DOMINATED hh and hh had 0 chance of winning this fight. it would be hard to point out 30 secs of the fight hh won. he didnt finish him but this was more dominating then say getting beat for 2 rounds then landing a lucky punch and getting a win
