"I don't think he'll get the winner of Fitch and GSP, said the UFC president. "He wants to fight GSP if GSP wins the title. GSP has a win over him. He wants to try to beat GSP. I don't think he'd move up if Fitch won."

Penn disagrees, commenting, "I'd feel okay facing anyone for the welterweight title."

"Jon Fitch is a great opponent, a tough opponent, but St. Pierre brings the whole backing of Canada with him to a fight," stated Penn. "Fan base, this sport, it's entertainment. It would be great to put on a big fight with me and St-Pierre, but then again, it’s about me fighting the best fighter and if Fitch goes down and proves he’s the best fighter, then he’s the man.”

I think BJ would need to bulk up a bit to really be competitive at 170- he has always been talented and exicting but when is is at a "frumpy weight" even at 170- he was known to gas- its more than just gas though guys like alves even GSP they are pretty muscular for 170- strong as hell- even though strength isnt everything its a factor... at the top level of competition BJ cant afford to give up the weight- not and still be competitive with the top 5 guys @ 170....

I hope he moves up when he has built a bit more muscle- and I hope he retains his awesome flexibility.

Champions SHOULD NOT be allowed to move up/down unless they forfeit their title.

I think its ok for them to keep the title but they have to defend it at least 2 times a year.

why would you ever "abandon" a title??

i guess hes Hawain....... (a bit quirky or eccentric) "Raise your hand if you want nothing to do with Jens Pulver or his team...."

I dont think he should get a title fight right away at 170- make him beat hughes serra alves Karo koscheck haslett somebody then let him fight the top contender... then if he wins give him the champ....

I guess he walks away from light weight he can say he never lost it.- I dont see him beatting George unless he bulks up a bit- imo.

But if you were to fight 4 times a year and 2 were title defenses where is the problem?

100% agree...i hate when fighters change weight classes, especially when they hold a title in a differentone

Why in Canada why not in Hawaii. It sucks when the UFC and fans feel that GSP and Bisping need to fight at home every time. Not that I think Serra would have won but he was champ and he had to go into GSP's back yard kinda BS if you ask me.

lol every time? There's been one UFC in Canada ever. It's not like they decided to go to Canada because GSP was fighting. GSP was fighting because they went to Canada. This just happened to be the fight that was timed with their first Canadian card... Did you think they were not going to have GSP fighting on it or something??

All organizations do the same thing, it's a common way to promote their product, by giving the fans a hometown fighter to cheer for. I'm pretty sure Rich Franklin fought Anderson silva in his hometown for their second fight, Diaz was recently hyped on the EXC card because he's from stockton, Faber fought Pulver in California. It has nothing to do with giving one fighter an advantage over the other, it's just a way to promote the product, it happens all the time and it's not like it's exclusive to Bispbing. (I don't understand how you can include GSP in that comment) Guaranteed when they go to mexico Huerta is on the card, guaranteed when they go to Hawaii BJ and probably Grove are on the card.

They don't go places to accommodate fighters, they pick fighters from the place they're going AFTER they decide to go there. When they have a card in hawaii, I'm 100% sure BJ will be on it the same way that when they had a card in Canada GSP was obviously going to be fighting on it.

I dont get why he needs to move to 170. He has nothing to prove. I think he should stay at 155 and become the most dominant LW ever, possibly all time. I just dont like Champions moveing around from class to class. I'm sure A Silva did it cause Dana asked and made it rain, to fight Irvin. Just to compete with Affliction.
