Rob Emerson believes he has a psychological advantage over Manny Gamburyan ahead of their meeting at UFC 87.
The pair will meet at lightweight on the undercard to Goerges St-Pierre’s bout with John Fitch in Minnesota on August 9.
Gamburyan is a former national junior judo champion and is likely to fight on the inside and take the bout to the floor.
Emerson is aware of Gamburyan’s tactics and feels their sparring sessions on The Ultimate Fighter 5 give him the edge.
“Prior to the (TUF 5) show, we did go against each other in the tryouts and he couldn’t take me down,” Emerson told ufc.com. “I think that got to him.

Oh lay n pray is when you win your first two official UFC fights by submission in the first 2 minutes of each fight? I struggle to see why Emerson is still in the UFC.

Emmerson has shown that he has a very limited ground game and that he can't hang with strong opponents. This should be an easy 11pts with Manny taking it with a Rd 1 sub.

Not to beat a dead horse here, but Emerson has gone to decision 10 times in 13 pro fights. Manny has been to 2 decisions in 10 pro fights.
