In their effort to smash the competition, UFC brushes aside business ethics and made THIS press release:
"SPIKE TV’S RE-BROADCAST OF UFC 84 DRAWS MORE YOUNG MEN THAN A LIVE PRO ELITEXC CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT ON CBS

Need proof the UFC is the preeminent mixed martial arts brand in the world? On Saturday, July 26, more men 18-34 watched a repeat…a repeat…of a UFC event on Spike TV than a LIVE telecast of a Pro EliteXC championship card on CBS. "

It gets better. They compare EliteXC to the XFL, purposely call them "pro eliteXC" to make them sound like the WWE. Check it out, its pretty funny.

Doesn't really matter. If you watched the rerun of UFC 84 instead of the Elite XC card your a fool.

True.... But if you had known how much better the UFC card was over the elite card, it was a good choice or just lucky

really?

UFC 84 was sick, had Penn Sherk, Jardine Wandy. But EXC did a superb job of putting on must see fights. Diaz Denny, Silva Eilers, Lawler Smit amongst others. It was a great night for EXC

I'm pretty damn sure the "He Hate Me" thing is not racist.

Rod Smart who was in the NFL with the Carolin Panthers was in the XFL, and was their biggest star. He would put "He Hate Me" on the back of his jersey, and he was disliked by all in the XFL. I think Spike was just trying to compare EliteXC's biggest star(Kimbo Slice) to the XFL's biggest star (Rod Smart). I'm pretty sure that's the comparison, and not a racist remark like the author on the website thought.

Other than name dropping on a 11 fight fight card....

There was 8 finishes with a total of 6 (t)Ko's

actually, the company that owns Elite XC is Pro Elite...that is why the UFC addressed them as such, not because they wanted them to sound like WWE.

UFC 84 was good. I've seen it. All the guys who watched it again...cool. Good on you. I like re runs too. Not enough to miss something live, but word, whatever, whenever the UFC makes press releases like this it is because they are looking to pull in more advertising revenue than the competition.

I think the 9 pm slot is atrocious for a Sat. night fight though. Seriously what is on at 9 pm? Here on the West Coast I could watch the UFC84 re-run at 6 and then watch the CBS show at 9. To me the release is a big yawn.

I understand where ur comin from, but

EXC had 11 fights also, 9 of which were finishes, with 8 (T)KO's, 1 Sub.

including some action packed fights like Cyborg and Diaz's fight. plus all of the CBS main card fights were finished before round 3.

Im not saying UFC 84 was crap, it was an awesome night of fights, just I really dont know why u would watch a repeat of decent fights, when you could be watching LIVE high caliber fights for free on Network TV.

Elite XC did a bd job of promoting the live event. I talked to alot of people that watched the UFC and didn't realize that EliteXC was having an event. If they had better promotion I think the numbers would have turned out differently. The EliteXC was show was great. I was really pleased with the quality of the fights and setup of the event.

This is just the UFC's way of showing how even on spikeTV they are pulling better numbers than EliteXC is on CBS.

I guess there must be a lot of fools out there. Most people I know rather watch the UFC because of the joke of a show EliteXC put on last time before this one. I give EliteXC credit this show was much better than their first but if I was to pick what to watch just going off their first show I much rather watch UFC 84 again. Also for some people that cant afford PPV this may be the first time they watched UFC 84 which was hands down a better event than anything EliteXC has ever put on.

not much of a boycott if you ask me. You wont buy the PPV but its still good enough to download and watch. Maybe you should read up on what it means to boycott something. What your saying is like me saying I'm boycotting white bread. I going to buy Wheat and wholegrain still but from now on I'm stealing all my white bread I eat. So I still plan on eating white bread just not paying for it.
