PRO MMA exclusive with Steve Mazzagatti as he discusses what happened with Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos in her fight with Shayna Baszler when at one point Cyborg thought she had won the fight and jumped up on the top of the cage in victory before the fight was over.

The ending of that fight was crap, He should of gave Cyborg the win after the first knock down, Fair enough the he didnt stop it, But she was out enough to get hurt way more, Anyways I was glad that Cyborg went back and smashed her after! Nearly got caught in a triangle, But WTF is nearly hey?

Ok, Nearly wasnt the correct word, But when the other chick got on her back, Cyborg rushed in, And "could of" got caught, I seen it coming. Maybe not nearly, But it WAS there...

she was nearly caught by knee bar, unless i was seein shit at the beginning of the fight. u kno what, now im not sure if I saw it or not

WATCH THE REF.
I don't care if you've got the other fighter in an arm-bar-from-hell and they are tapping and crying. Until the ref waves his arm to signal a stoppage keep going. Keep going until the ref stops the fight. Plain and simple.
Every fighter knows that. Keep going until you are told to stop.
Props to Mazzagatti for being a long time ref. and making the right call 99% of the time

Bazler looked like she was on her back ready to pull gaurd, even though I'm sure Cyborg would have been able to pound her out from there. There would have been controversy anyway if Mazzagatti had stopped it there.

I could see taking a point away, sort of like grabbing the cage, giving Baszler time to recover, but disqualification? What's the rule here?
I guess Santos or any other non-english speaking fighter be disqualified if the ref is saying "fight!" over and over again and they don't react? The ref could rule that they are not engaging and stop the fight due to inability to continue? Not sure.
This could be a good technical discussion of the rules, but I don't know what the rule is if a fighter exits or partially exits the cage during a fight.

That had to be one of the weirdest things I'd ever seen in an mma fight. Still, it would've been crappy to have seen a dominant fighter lose on DQ because of it.
On a side note, does anyone else think that the Mario mustache looks good on Tito? I bet Jenna would appreciate a mustache ride.
