I'm sure it will have to do with the puchase of the IFL.

i can't miss lawler/smith 2 and plus i spent 40$ to watch ufc 84

Does he really want me to watch an event that I've already seen just to hear some off-the-wall announcement that I can read about online the next day?

Or is he talking to somebody else?

Anti-Affliction 2. My guess is it'll be the plan to counter the next Affliction event in October, likely to again revolve around Anderson Silva.

I bet it will be ultimatley dissappointing...

Just think... Wouldn't it be great if he agreed to let Randy and Fedor fight in the UFC for the WAMMA belt or something like that... Wouldn't have to worry about his champ leaving with the belt because it's not the UFC's, problem solved...

I just hope it's not something about the Ultimate Fighter... A new format or the next coaches, etc...

If it is the next anti-affliction show, I hope he's got enough time to put together a respectable card this time...

Dana's announcments bore me and have been dissapointing since the Chuck / Wand announcement years ago that couldn't be put together afterwords... He should really play a more behind the scene's roll in the UFC, IMO

The announcement saturday is going to be that he is going to make an announcement at UFC 87 where he will then tell everyone he has an announcement the following tuesday in which he will tell everyone something so overhyped that it doesnt matter, like he bought a new pair of shoes and wanted to let people know.......

lol he's the promoter. How does a promoter do his job effectively from behind the scenes? I get what you're saying about the announcements being boring but us people who scour MMA sites for any news about the sport are in the minority, so these "big announcements" are actually usually news to the general public.

I doubt that it's more Affliction counter-programming. My best guess is they're just going to announce the coaches for the next season of TUF. Second guess is the IFL buyout. I think that Affliction is being careful to schedule their next card in between 2 UFC events that are only a couple weeks apart so that it will be nearly impossible for them to counter with anything live. I think that they'll be forced to re-air something old or to just leave it alone.

I hope its the purchase of IFL. they need more less than top tier fighters...

I can see the UFC coming down with the ol' Rome disease... eat up everything, spread yourself thin, then collapse on yourself... Not saying its gonna happen but wouldnt surprise me.

If you've noticed, the UFC has been cutting a number of under-performers over the last few months...most likely to keep the same number of fighters once the buyout was complete.
