Silva hit him so hard he lifted Irvin off the ground...
Amazing, wasn't it?
If he didn't hold onto his leg, he'd have travelled half way across the cage.

That was an incredible fight last night. If the Spider ever decides to start beating up heavy weights or other LHW they better think twice before taking the fight one short notice. It could be the last fight they take for a while.
that fight was so fast and I was so happy the whole time, I can't remember, did the Sandman ever hit anderson with anything.
Night I add, I read a few places including on yahoo that said the sandman is a middle of the road LHW. Idon't agree. I think he is easily in the top 20, maybe even top ten.
He beat Houston, who beat jardine, who beat our champ, so you do the math.

Damn I feel bad for James, but really ...... WTF throwing a mid kick like that with no setup! Silva's been practicing Muay Tai his whole life pretty much, and James probably like 3-5 years.....he should have stuck to the basics and used his hands.
agreed but even so I practice catching kicks in Muay Thai all the time and ppl always eat the cross hell irvin shoulda pushed off or covered up not swing...
agreed. he shouldve have gone for that body kick maybe the lower leg but not the body Anderson is to good to not have been able to catch that kick. but it doesnt matter to me im still an Irvin fan to the death!!!!!
WAR SANDMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Rob
Sandman for life...... IMO way more worthy of a BANDWAGON than JT

James Irvin, top 10? No way. Rampage Jackson, Shogun Rua, Chuck Liddell is still up there, Wanderlei Silva, Forrest Griffin, Lyoto Machida, Dan Henderson, Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans are all Top 10, and Irvin isn't even close to ANY of those guys. Who has James Irvin beat that makes you think he is Top 10?

Sucks for him. No striker wants that big of a cut for scar tissue. Might open up in future fights. Lol, war Silva

Yea, you can't put Irvin in top 10 cause he beat Houston Alexander (overrated one dimensional striker.) and also KO'd two no names in under 10 seconds. Its impressive but Houston looked impressive until he went against a possible Top 10 Thiago Silva. We all know how that ended

Now maybe he will focus on his defense. I know it's going slow in the gif but Irvin pretty much just looked like a deer in headlights when Silva grabbed the kick. Keep those hands up son!
Hope to see Irvin back.

It may scar but it won't be as big as the emotional scar he received via pwnage.

Irvin deserves credit for showing up. He is definitely a gamer but I don't see him really excelling in the UFC. The competition at lhw is going to be a little bit beyond him for the next few years...

anybody else notice that after irvin ate that first punch and dropped he was still conscious enough to cover up but not to roll or try to get up. then he just laid there and ate some more hits. why wouldnt he try to get out of the way or get up. he just laid there waiting for the hits to come.

That's what happens when you get clocked with a punch of that ferocity - covering up was instinct.
