SIGNAL HILL, California (July 18, 2008) – The stars will be out Saturday night for “Affliction Banned,” the greatest line-up of mixed-martial-arts fights ever presented in one night, as entertainment and sports celebrities become fans watching the world’s most talented fighters, at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

“Affliction Banned,” presented by Affliction Entertainment in association with Roy Englebrecht Promotions, is so talent-laden it had to be separated into two live broadcasts in the same night. FSN (Fox Sports Net) will present “Affliction Live”, a one hour live special, starting at 5 PM Pacific (8 PM/ET). The mega show “Affliction Banned” featuring five incredible fights follows on pay-per-view begining at 6 PM/PT (9 PM/ET) via iN DEMAND, TVN, Shaw Communications, Viewers Choice Canada, DirecTV, DISH Network, Bell ExpressVue and Star Choice in the United States and Canada for a suggested retail price of $39.95.

Donald Trump, Sr., a partner in the promotion along with Affliction Clothing, will be there with family members Melania, Donald, Jr., and Vanessa.

Actors getting red-carpet treatment include Sly Stallone, Robert Downing, Jr., Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Pressley, Mekhi Phifer and Madonna’s husband, movie producer Guy Richie.

Heavy metal band Megadeth, led by frontman, guitarist, and songwriter Dave Mustaine, will be performing live at the event. Members of popular rock bands Korn and Slayer will be in the house watching the action.

Nobody appreciates fighters like fellow athletes and the sporting world will be well represented by the likes of MMA legends Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock and Tito Ortiz, who’ll be there with his famous girlfriend, Jenna Jameson; NFL All-Pro players Sean Merriman and Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers), recently retired Michael Strahan (New York Giants); world champion boxers James Toney, Zab Judah and Sergio Mora; LA Dodgers pitcher
Brad Penny and former WWF superstar “Rowdy” Roddy Piper.

The highly anticipated US debut of Russian heavyweight Aleksander “The Grim Reaper” Emelianenko (13-3), brother of Fedor Emelianenko, against tough Texan brawler Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello (23-10), kicking off the night with “Affliction Live” on FSN, plus veteran Terry Martin (16-4) faces Brazilian sensation Victor “The Phenom” Belfort (16-8).

The “Affliction Banned” pay-per-view, features six of the 10 heavyweights in the world, including the long awaited return of the former undisputed PRIDE® heavyweight champion and Russian M-1 legend Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko (27-1), who battles former 2-time UFC® heavyweight title-holder Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia (24-4), fighting in the main event (5 five-minute rounds) for the inaugural WAMMA heavyweight title.

The PPV action continues with five more super showdowns as former UFC® heavyweight title-holder Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski (12-5) clashes with IFL® titlist “Big” Ben Rothwell (29-5); Josh “The Baby Faced Assassin” Barnett (22-5) faces off stateside for the first time in two years in a grudge match against the only opponent to ever knock him out — Brazilian strongman Pedro “The Rock” Rizzo (16-7); three-time All-American wrestler Mike Whitehead (20-5) tangles with Brazilian sensation Renato “Babalu” Sobral (29-7); 2000 Olympic Wrestling Silver Medalist and Oregon House of Representative candidate, Matt “The Law” Lindland (20-5) takes on Brazilian favorite Fabio “Negao” Nascimento (8-3).

Finally, for the thousands in attendance at the Honda Center, the off-television swing bouts will fill out an exciting night of action as light-heavyweights and Justin Levens (9-8) vs. Ray Lizma (5-5); welterweight JJ Ambrose (9-1) vs. Mike “Quicksand” Pyle (15-5-1); lightweight Savant Young (8-7) vs. Mark “The Machine” Hominick (15-8); Brazlian heavyweight Antonio Rogerio “Minotoro” Nogueira (13-3) vs. Edwin “Babyface” Dewees (35-12).

Some people dont get it.. Vitor has gone by Victor over and over.. Has has told promoters at some events to list him as Victor.. in the eraly UFCs he went as Victor. He thinks it is easier for English speaking people.
