i have a fight coming up but i dont have a team or a camp just a few friends to train with so really i never have gameplans i just go in there blind so id really appreciate any suggestions as to a plan for my next fight.
i am 5'10 170. i am a wrestler, with takedowns and balance being my specialties. i originally come from a jiu-jitsu background and ive been doing jiujitsu for a long time and i am at a very high level. my striking would probably be my weakest point but i do have some good leg kicks and a very strong chin. my biggest thing over him is probably gonna be my physical strength or my jiujitsu. my opponent is about 6'0 160-65. hes a strict wrestler with his specialties being trips and hes got solid ground and pound and hes got a very long reach.
fighting on a mat were only 16 there are no camps or coaches anywhere near here we take any fights we can in any environment ill post again on here when the video comes out after the fight

Against a Fellow Wrestler you'll want to stick to those Whizzer's when he's trying to take you down and you could transfer to Back Control from there, but if you want nothing on the Feet then take him down.

word of advice if you charge people to watch and the state has not sanctioned this you could be in for heavy fines.. if there is no money and you guys just fight and no one pays.. well its harder for the state to regulate.. if you have over a certian number of people attending you may need some permit.. how do I know all of this.. when I lived in PA I took over a small wrestling promotion that was trying to go from the backyard to make it self legit and they fell into these traps and were told by the state athletic commision either post a bond or pay a huge fine.. well teh first show never happened thats when I came in... sadly during that timemost of the performer athletes started to go away to college or took on new jobs.. so technically I still own the group and all.. but it has since become defunct..
back to the topic at hand.. if there is no one in the area legitimately to train and hold shows... check with your state you may want to look into getting a promoters lisence and then posting a bond so you can hold legal shows if your state allows such a thing... talk to a local martial arts school it does not have to be an MMA school but if you can get them on board it may help as you have someone who should hopefully understand the sport of combat... You may also be able to attract someone to the area if you can show that hey.. We have alot of people here willing to train we just need a teacher to help us... I know you said your only 16.. I would talk to a parent to help you set everything up... you may not be able to get a promoters lisence at that age not sure... ... but if you want to be taken seriously on here and else where you talk about the show work on taken these steps.. the insurance bonds with most state athletic commisions are not that bad... but remember if you do this you are in business.. you may even want to think about contacting a lawyer to help set all this up it might help alot and who knows.. maybe one day you'll be putting a show on PPV and have the UFC worried and have to scramble to put on a free show oppisite you.. if you want to talk more about this shoot me a PM... I am sure too there are other people on here who have info regarding how to put on promotions who might be able to help... I admire the drive you have.. but just do it legally so you don't get fined or sued if someone gets hurt seriously.. perhpas talk to your wrestling coach sound like you are apart of your schools program... he may be able to help as well.. but I do seriously suggest contacting a lawyer if you want to do this to protect yourself if you want to maintain control so some adult does not try to take it from you if you are able to pull this off...
Right now what your doing is akin to kimbo's you tube fights... they look good and all but no true fans or such will take you seriously... regardless I wish you luck... oh yea as for stragety... if you both have good wrestling skills but you have better jits... I'd take him to the ground... avoid the stand up unless you know he has weak hands..

You might have to bite the bullet and go in for clinchfighting. You would have to avoid trips but if you feel stronget it could help. I personally like to use the rubber guard and wait for guys to gas, if you have a good improv rubberguard that might work.
One more thing on strategy, you can probably use good head movement and watch the shoulder line. Instead of going to the hips fake low and bearhug/suplex. That could be something he wont expect.
Strict powerhouse guys freak out on their backs and also sometimes when they're on top and still have no control.
Royce used to use heel kickss to the opponents liver and kidneys from guard. That'll wear someone out.
If the guy's inexperianced and you think you can break him you can try to test the chin early with power and try to shock him.
Wide punches from top get lazy and they tend to dangle for rest, there lies an armbar.
BJJ guys have a trend of catching wrestlers in leglocks for some strange reason.
I have this move I call the Judo guillotine where I grab a flying guillotine and instead of pulling guard or half guard I use butterfly guard and push off with my legs when I hit the ground. That flips and mounts the opponent. Just remember to grap a guillotine on one side and underhook instead of overhook on the other. That way if he charges you he charges into an assured loss.
Something I actually practise for street defense is popping the ears from bottom. Rubber guard and slapping the hell out of em until there's no equilibrium left. Then the sweep is easy and GnP.
