Here is part of the interview of "Big" John done by Penny Buffington:

” The Association of Boxing governs all of the commissions throughout North America. We are trying to get things done as far as certification and education of judges and referees. They will actually have to go through a course. Prove that they know what they are doing. What they are supposed to do in a certain situations and know what the fighters are doing. They are going to have to prove all that. When that is in place, that’s a big step forward for the sport.” - "Big" John

That sounds good. Now I hope they would also have an ethics board which would hold the refs responsible for stopping fights too quickly or not quick enough. As we all know, job training is one thing but accountability is another.

I agree 100%...The should hold the refs and judges responsible for their calls and scoring...

SO true. The NFL has a scoring system for the refs, Football does the same thing. If a ref is known for stopping fights to fast or letting them go to long or whatever that needs to be seen and delt with, same with judges. Refs and judges can change a fighters career, and when they drop the ball they must be held accountable even if it's a mistake.

I wish Big John would just fade away. Every chance he can get he's shooting to get his name in the headlines. Go back to what you do best John--refereeing. Leave the limelight for Dana White.

See, I agree with this. I think BJM is doing what he can to promote awareness of the sport and its rules while remaining fair and impartial. He's humble, he's respectful, he's competent and he's rather eloquent. His interviews are always a joy to read, and I'm glad he's still around in the fight game.

I just hope he returns to reffing soon. At this point, he's the only ref I trust completely.

I don't have to agree with every single opinion he has to think he is a great rep. And it's not like he is making these rules alone. singeling him out and blaming him alone for rule changes done by the ABC that you don't like is just dumb.

Your response comes off as childish with all the rolleyes-smileys. Please don't reply to my posts if you're just going to be a dick.

I agree with him. BJM is good for the sport.

Jaunito is going to sit down with the NSAC commissioner and watch the Forrest fight because he's considering a formal dispute to the decision. He's hoping the judges will be there so they have to explain themselves.

Man, I'd love to be a fly on the wall for that one! The point is that there needs to be some accountability like mentioned Mayo mentioned.
