What does a brash, boisterous, 25-year-old do when handed a bonus check for $60,000?

"My money's sitting in the bank," UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard (22-7-2 MMA, 4-3 UFC) proudly proclaimed.

I don't know why the UFC is pushing this guy on us so much. Personally he's decent to watch fight. But, he's sure not going to be beating any top 10 lightweights anytime soon.

its nice to see Melvin finally focused on his job. i think a focused melvin guillard is a DANGEROUS melvin guillard. i don't think he'll be fighting for the title any time soon but i think he'll be considered one of the top guys in the LW division about halfway through next year..........if he gets a ground game

Ive got a new found respect for melvin after reading an article about him in the newest issue of Ultimate grappling mag. I had no clue that he was caught in the middle of hurricane katrina and he spent like 15 hours swimmin back and forth taking women and children to safety onto a bridge that wasnt flooded. and he watched out for everyone because that same bridge has prison inmated that were un handcuffed or shackeled. so he definitly has my respect as a person now, and I really do believe he has grown up. I think melvin needs a little bit more ground game and some more submission defense, then he will be a force to be reckoned with
