Tom Atencio, vice president for Affliction, recognizes that Barnett has beaten a number of MMA superstars, yet remains anonymous to the new generation of MMA fans because of fighting in Asia the last few years.

I hope Josh does get the recognition he deserves. He's a top ranked fighter and has been over looked for the most part as far as I'm concerned.

if he was in the UFC, no doubt that he would become one of the most popular fighters in the UFC. But I believe the UFC's supermarketing machine is the only one capable of doing this, dont think any other promotion can make him a star, unless he signs with Elite and appears on CBS.

I love him. I think he deserves way more respect than he gets. But even when the mainstream re-find out about him... He left the country immediately after failing a roids test (regardless of what you think of that test). That LOOKS (to the average guy) like he ran to keep doing roids. It's gonna take a bit for him to get recognized in the states as a top guy, unfortunately.

That is an idiotic comment considering that UFC is where Barnett had the most success in his career.
