On this web site in June of 2008, we discussed an interesting topic regarding the ongoing divide in MMA circles involving those who come from the world of professional wrestling and those who have backgrounds in more traditional sports (like boxing). One of the major reasons for this growing divide involves the decline of professional wrestling.

What does professional wrestling have to do with the growth of MMA in Japan and North America? Think: demographics.

It's only logical they would eventually migrate to MMA when they grow out of Wrestling. It's a huge audience to draw from and the same market segment. If they were to all convert it would be billions of dollars in the long run for MMA. They probably do this already, but heavy advertising during WWE shows could pay great dividends.

I'm with you there. That's what I really enjoy about this site. It's amazing that we can discuss MMA here without trolls and instead have some respectful and well thought-out discussions. This site rocks!

I am both an avid WWE/TNA wrestling fan and a MMA fan, and it really bugs me when people go "wrestling is for kids and immature adults"

Yes i know pro wrestling is fake and yea i still watch it, its entertaining to me.

Im sure there are ALOT of wrestling fans on this board (some who hide it some who dont) just because your a wrestling fan doesnt mean you cant have great discussions, I look at the Sherdog forums and the guys on there (not all of them) are the most immature people ive ever had the pleasure at laughing at when im bored, when i was younger i would go on Pokemon forums that had more respectable members/ discussions then Sherdog does

To each his own i say, you may not like wrestling, thats fine but dont criticize those who do, Ive seen alot of pople on these forums bash WWE and what not but I cant recall someone coming in saying "WWE is badass compared to this UFC shit"
just let the two be

(BTW this site 1000000000 times better then sherdog, only go there if you want a laugh at some jerk off who loves to talk shit behind a keyboard lol)

Outgrow wrestling?

LOL.People make it sound like only 5 year olds watch it.Wrestling and MMA go hand and hand,so it's only natural Pro-wrestling fans would watch MMA.
