MMA star Andrei Arlovski, the former UFC heavyweight champion from Belarus, has been training for a boxing career under the tutelage of trainer Freddie Roach. Arlovski, who has an MMA bout July 19, likely will make his professional boxing debut Sept. 13 (HBO PPV) in the opening fight on the Casamayor-Marquez card in Las Vegas, according to Golden Boy.Link

Kind of suprised that Affliction doesn't have some sort of non-compete timetable written into their contract language. He's just two weeks from a MMA fight, and he's volunteering to get his head punched. I'm sure he's been given a pretty safe opponent, but this seams to me like an unnecessary risk at this point.

Either way- i won't be purchasing it because boxing is boring (and it'll be on the video section here within hours anyway).

The boxing match is almost 2 months after the Affliction Banned show.

I think this is great! Especially with legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach in his corner. He's always had fast. powerful hands and at Heavyweight in boxing, I think he could EASILY unify all the titles.

Great news.

He will miss using his sambo

Its a nice little quirky thing but i hope he doesnt do it too much cos he needs to stay in mma and fight more often, he has been inactive enough of late (not his fault i know but still)

i say Arlovski accidentally shoots in for a single......haha just playing. i think he will do great in boxing, those big pretty red gloves are much easier to take across the chin than the mma ones. and their inst much strikes to be worrying about just hands...

GAY!!!! This will not help his MMA career and to me is just a way to lean more on his striking (hands) to continue his paydays. I think the guy should take some time to enhance his ground game, and then utilize it to GNP his way to some significant fights. (And I'm and AA fan!)

My guess is he'll stay with MMA hes just trying something new, JLB has 99% kickboxer fights and 1% mma fights, point is you can have a few boxing fights and stay with your strengths (MMA suits Andrei better than boxing imo)

I was a boxing fan for years before I found MMA. Now to me, going back to watching boxing is like going from crazy hot internet porn back to Penthouse. I fall asleep in both cases.
