The submission you're talking about over Jason MacDonald was a rear naked in the 5th! round. I don't have a BJJ belt, I could get a rear naked on the best BJJ guys in the world if I manage to beat them up a little and get them too tired to fight back.
I've said it before, I'll say it again, the rear naked is the drunk uncle of the BJJ world.
I have Almeida for a round 2 sub.

Cote's fight with Lutter keeps flashing in my head, and until Cote can prove he has a ground game, I am playing it safe and going with Almeida.

the point i was trying to make wasnt that cote will submit almedia, but that he can survive with a good bjj artist. The fact that it was in the 5th round makes it even more impressive.

The fight is relevant, but MacDonald is nowhere near Almeida on the ground.

agreed. but i think i could arguee he is a better striker. while i do believe if almedia wins it will be by sub (its his only chance) i was trying to say patrick does have some ground defense and offense, which alot of people dont seem to realize

Marquardt is a "better Cote" and Almeida subbed him. I know this is flirting with MMAth, but it says a lot. Watch out for the gillmeidatine.

Agreed. And you could also say Almeida is a "Better Lutter".

Nate doesnt have the chin or punching power of Cote. Cote knows what he needs to do. Now he just has to do it. Sprawl and brawl and Cote takes it.

If Nate didn't have the chin or the punching power of Cote, Cote would be ranked top 10 in the world instead of Marquardt.

Neither deserve a title shot, perhaps the winner should face the winner of Leben & Bisping
I'm not convinced by Cote yet, i can see Almeida submitting him

I actually think Cote will pull off a victory in this fight, and will end up as a highlight reel KO for Silva.
I would prefer to see Almeida fight Silva though, even though I'm sure the result would be the same either way.

Not when nate has 20 more fights with a lot more victories. and just because of that it doesnt mean he has a stronger chin or more puching power than cote. Nate has 4 ko/tko's in 36 fights and cote has 6ko/tko's in 16 fights. nates been ko'd ( it was against anderson so it really doesnt count) but cote has face Drew, Tito, Mahood, Scott Smith, and leben who are known for knocking guys out but werent able to do so aginst cote.

You just countered your own point though.
Marquardt has 20 more fights and has only been KO'd once. Using your logic, you can't say Cote has a better chin until he has 20 more fights under his belt vs ranked opponents like Marquardt fights. Only ranked guy Cote has fought would be Tito almost 4yrs ago, back when Tito was JUST starting to work his way OUT of the top 10.
Cote isn't fighting the level of competition Marquardt is yet, when he does and keeps knocking ppl out without getting knocked out, then you can say you told me so.
