A Brazilian magazine has claimed that Vera was offered a fight with Machida on July 19th and he turned it down.

After the Sylvia fight Vera said he had no interest in going to light heavyweight. Did he change his mind, after the Werdum fight? Why is it "ducking" when you don't want to fight someone in a different weight class?

I wouldn't doubt it, he probaly wants to feel out the weight class before he goes against the top competion.

Smart move, because Machida would crush Vera. Hopefully he'll be a little more cut at 205. At heavyweight it almost leaves him the excuse to look like one great jelly donut.

it would be madness for him to take machida as his first fight at 205, its not like anderson silva is fighting a top level fighter in his move up to 205

LOL, funny, even if it isnt even a little accurate.
Machida is a hella smart fighter. Vera will lose to him, if he fights him.
Vera was right to drop down to LHW, given his frame, but I think he'll drown in the deep pool of talent in the LWH division personally.
Not sure why this fight came to mind, but I'd like to see Vera fight Hendo @ LHW. Come to think of it, I'd like to see Hendo fight Machida too.

well vera should have turned it down like he did, because he needs to get back in the win colum first thing. and establish himself at 205 before fighting contenders.
