July 19th free on Spike! Awesome.
I Favor Anderson Silva, but I think this would be a good gauge as to how his power matches up at 205 pounds. This would give more insight as to how he may matchup in a possible bout against Rampage Jackson.

BIG FAN OF IRVIN. bUT I THINK SILVA IS WAY TO SMART TO CATCH A SUPERMAN punch or a flying knee to make a quick and easy fight for irvin

Me to on the being an Irvin fan, but got to give it to Silva. Be cool if they got into a kicking match.

This is not a test for anderson james irvin is not an elite guy at 205, but it will be intersting to see anderson adapt to an extra 20 lbs

Talk about a scramble to compete with the Affliction card
This matchup is dumb and I'll be watching Affliction anyways, Silva will take this but they can call me when he has a better matchup than Irvin at 205

Irvin gets KOed in Rd 1. Affliction PPV will get crushed. How will Fedor get paid when their PPV's don't equal his share of the purse?

Considering how popular Silva is and the fact this is his first move up to 205, this will probably give Affliction some very poor ratings.
And the reason they gave him an easier opponent is probably because Silva needs to be tested and make sure he can handle 205. They don't want him losing his first fight at this weight.

I dont understand this decision. I would understand it if they just wanted to give Silva a fight to keep him busy while the MW division came up with a real contender (and there will be a good contender coming up in the next six months when the Okami-Bisping-Leites-Maia-Cote situation gets turned into 1 contender) but i would rather see him just fight the Okami because he is the leader of the pack than fight a guy whos not even in the top tier at LHW. Not that Irvin is a bad fighter but hes not top 15 even.
My personal pick would have been Anderson versus Wanderlei: The battle of the Silvas.

This is a really lame idea by the UFC.
They really despise the idea of other organizations competing with them, don't they?
Pointless matchup.... who benefits from this? Silva tko rd 2.
Oh, and the UFC just re-signed Jake O'Brien for this event too! Yay!

Anderson is small at 185lbs Irvin is huge at 205lbs
Irvin is way cooler than Anderson
Everyone licks the Jock of Anderson
I have always been a huge voice and defender of the Sandman!!!!
So I'm used to being flamed when it comes to the Sandman
But Anderson is one of the greatest fighter ever.......
But I'm no flip flopper, Sandman by 1st round KO
And if I lose points "who cares" cuz i'm no sell out

this doesnt make sense. they are just bringing anderson silva on the fight night to draw a bigger crowd to watch this fight night instead of ordering affliction.
this is last minute crap to me.
it's like chuck vs rashad. only i would rather see that fight than this.
affliction still dominates in better matchups between these two cards.
