MMA just got regulated in Arizona...Dan Henderson just donated an undisclosed amount of money (in the millions) to get the ASU wrestling team back. CB Dollaway, Cain Valasquez, Ryan Bader, Aaron Simpson are all new UFC signee's that are from ASU...I think its a no brainer here.
Dan Henderson vs. Rich Franklin as the main event.
fill out the rest of the card with AZ fighters: CB Dollaway, Aaron Simpson, Ryan Bader, Cain Valasquez, Jamie Varner, Joe Riggs, Drew Fickett, Efrain Escudero (the Next Ultimate Fighter), Jesse Forbes (rematch against Jesse Taylor), Travis Degroat, Edwin Dwees, Richie Hightower, and Joe Veres (to lose to an up and comer of sorts)
Appearances by Don Frye, Mark Kerr, and Dan Severn.
AZ actually has a rich MMA history. Rage In The Cage holds 1-2 events every month, and has currently ran more shows than anyother MMA promotion in existence. King of the Cage is also active here along with other small promotions.
AZ has a strong high school wrestling base very strong (we currently have two AZ wrestlers on the olympic team), but for some reason have no college teams...water polo, field hokey, and lacross have more AZ college teams than wrestling (these sports arent even offered in HS). Anyhow, because of this anomity the few az college wrestling teams that we do have also double as MMA feeding farms.
Pima Community College (Active 2000-2007)-Jamie Varner, Jesse Forbes, Travis Degroat, Drew Fickett, Efrain Escudero (and countless others yet to make it big). Combined record: 62-9
Glendale Community College (Active 2004-2007)-Del Hawkins, Joe Riggs, Edwin Dwees, Jose Cortez, Adam Roland, Ray Robbinson, Gilbert Aldana (RIP), Chad Griggs, Cory Watson, Chris Collado, Aaron Accero, Joe Veres. Combined record: 89-23
ASU-(Active ?-2008 Reinstated 2008-Current)-Townsed Saunders, Dan Henderson, Dan Severn, Don Frye, Aaron Simpson, Cain Valsquez, CB Dollaway, Ryan Bader. Combined Record: 162-38
Grand Canyon University (Active 2007-Current)-Effrian Escudero, Cory Watson, Jed Jobe (too new to have history but just starting). Combined Record: 24-0

In case anybody wondered why I wasted so much of my time figuring out those combined record, I'd also like to state that I've wrestled for all 4 of those AZ teams. (We only have two left...a month ago we only had one left). So I know most of the people I listed. It really was no waste of time for me, but a true joy figuring that out. (It'll be lockerrom talk tomorrow)

I think there are many good fighters from AZ. If they can't put a card together I am up for an hour long documentary dedicated to the life of the Fryestache. Narrarated of course by Don Frye himself.......................or Ryan Seacrest cause he is sure to annoy Frye enough to make him rain down knees to the highlights.

We have alot of the same events travel out to Southern Cali. But dont even get me started on the lack of support for wrestling.
Dont know the circumstances but I am glad to see you took care of your avatar bet. I thought you were more of a stand up guy than that.

There's so many good guys on the Arizona circuit that it's disgusting. Powerhouse wrestlers, great strikers, great BJJ practicioners. The names go on and on forever, but the ones listed here are good enough.
There's plenty of forums to house an event between Jobing.com arena to U.S. Airways center to a place like Marquee theater where a UFN or WEC could take place.
If we get an event here in AZ I'm going to be first on the list to buy tickets
