Paulo Filho and Chael Sonnen are finally set to rematch on September 10th. The two were originally scheduled to rematch on March 26th in order to settle a disputed Filho win at UEC 31 back in December.
In that fight, Sonnen appeared to be controlling the action well into the second round before Filho caught him in an armbar. Sonnen did not appear to tap, but yelled while the armbar was secured causing the referee to stop the fight via verbal submission. Sonnen disputed the stoppage and called immediately called for a rematch which was eventually granted for March 26th.
However, Filho was unable to make weight for the fight and was purported to be suffering from chemical dependency and depression according to his management, who declared Filho ready to fight now.

i don't understand why you aren't excited for this. sonnan deserves this rematch with filho. he nearly beat him and says that he didn't tap. now i don't know for sure if he did tap or not, but he definitely deserves another shot at filho.

If Filho wins is he going to give up the belt? He said this is his last fight at 185 no?

He has said it is for sure his last fight there so he'd have to vacate it. Works for Sonnen. Even if he loses, he'll probably be fighting for the vacant title in his next fight.
It'll be interesting to see how WEC handles a possible Filho vs. Stann title fight, or if Filho will choose to bang with the LHW's in the UFC instead.

Filho's a great fighter, but he's already undersized at Middleweight. He's gonna get eaten alive at 205, especially if he's in the UFC.

He didnt tap, he screamed. But the armbar was completely locked in and would have been broken in a matter of seconds if he wouldn't have tapped, he just found a loophole to get him the rematch

Filho is not an undersized MW. He walks around at just over 205 and has publicly stated multiple times that he has too much difficulty cutting to 185.

I've wanted to see this rematch since the first one. I think Paulo will be better than last time, and I hope Chael stays away from submissions, and gives us another solid fight.

Yea I want to see this fight again too.. Chael did not physically tap as for verbal.. thats really between him and the ref.. I think this could be a damn good rematch if both fighters come ready..

I hope and truely think Chael can pull this off. Granted Paulo was having issues in the last fight and Chael was winning that fight easily until the slip-up. I am pulling for Chael.

Heck yeah! I've been waiting for this rematch for a long time. Sonnen deserves it. He had Filho beat the first time and got caught. I agree with the stoppage in the first fight though. After watching it a few times. I think Sonnen has a really good chance to defeat Filho.
