The American Fight League has signed former WWE wrestling star Bobby Lashley to a multi-fight contract, demarking the beginning of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. The official announcement was made in front of a full crowd in Atlanta during the AFL: BulletProof event held at Philips Arena on Friday, May 30.
Since announcing his exit from professional wrestling there have been murmurs that the goliath-like Bobby Lashley would be making a move into MMA. Long anticipated and much speculated, the signing of Bobby Lashley to fight in the American Fight League will finally put all the rumors to rest. He will compete in the heavyweight division.

Good to see him get started in the smaller shows, get some experience. Looking foward to seeing how he does, if he wins a couple, wouldnt be surprised if Elite/Affliction (if they still around) pick him up.
wiki has him listed as 6'3, 273 pounds. Pretty Big guy, much like lesnar (lesnar might be a bit bigger in terms of weight)....dont think he is as good a wrestler as Lesnar, but his credentials are impressive nontheless, wonder what Camp he is training under?

I like how in the article it says he has defeated numerous pro wrestling stars and earned two belts as if the WWE is real. That being said I wish him all the best, he's a military man should get respect for that alone.

Does anyone know how tall he is? His website says 6'3" but I think that can't be right. I can't see him wrestling 177 lbs. in college at that height.

Maybe he wasn't 6'3" when he wrestled in college, that's about the only explanation I can think of.

well Wiki has him at 6'3 also, im guessing he cut quite a bit of weight, im guessing he was around 200-210 pounds(maybe even higher).but yea 6'3 seems to tall for 177, maybe the roids made him grow. when he went into Pro-wrestling thats probably the reason he gained alot of weight (more muscle mass, Roids)

Dam i just googled this guy! He is friggin' huge! Is he the same size as Brock? Bigger?! Sounds good with him starting in the smaller orgs. Hopefully he can build up a few wins before he moves up to the top comp of the HW devision. He has a pretty impressive wrestling background though. I say good luck to the HUGE guy.

about two years ago i had the opportunity to meet bobby lashley. All i can say is that this guy is huge and overall a great guy. prolly one of my most exciting memories. i hope he goes far and does well in this business. and i can't wait to see what his prefered style is going to be. i think he will use his wrestling to get great gnp position and win most of his fights via tko.
good luck babagonush

I think he's doing this almost perfectly....only thing is I would not give up my million dollar job. I think I would have taken a 1 year vacation....like HHH when he had his child....to give it a try. Chris Jerrico took some time off too to see if he could be a rock star. They have both gone back into Pro Wrestling with no problems. I mean you never know, he just might find out that he has a glass jaw and then what....just don't burn your bridges you know.

I look forward to seeing how he does, I remember when he came on the scene with WWE. I remember thinking this guy is a monster, and he has a real wrestling background.
I wish that he didnt sign with the AFL, but I am sure we will see him in a larger format soon.
