Does Machida have a fighting style that would cause trouble for Anderson Silva. |

There has been a lot of talk about Machida and wether or not he is a marketable fighter due to his "boring" style. I personally enjoy watching him and think he is a great fighter. Which brings me too these two observation from the TIto fight:
1. Machida looked small for a light heavy weight.
2.Machida is a very technical fighter and can be very allusive. I think Machida's style would give Anderson Silva trouble. Machida has amazing footwork. He is always moving in and out and side to side which make it very hard to hit. This along with his great ground work I think would make it a tough match for Anderson.
I was just wondering what the rest of you think or if I am just talking out of my you know what?

If Machida somehow made that weight (and I'm leaving out the possible effects of making a cut like that) he could definantly take Silva out.
Keep in mind at a lower weight, and against Silva, he wouldn't have the speed advantage. He might not be able to wear on an experianced counterstriker who carries much less weight around than a 205 pounder.
Very unpredictable but I say one of the most boring fights of the year if it happened. Why?- two counterstrikers that leave no timing or telegraphs to be studied in the first couple rounds. The entire night could be spent standing with two guys staring with intent to harm but no one to initiate any action.
Machida would jab and move and Silva would throw leg kicks and high kicks.
2 endings could happen
- explosive counter finish - boring split decision that is booed.

silva has crazy knockout power, speed, and range i would love nothing more than to see him knock machida out the only way machida will ever be exciting is, ironically, by losing

i honsetly dont think he is that crazy.. i say shogun's style will give hime trouble.. wandy will, henderson might.. (if he continues to attack) anyone who is a forward aggressive fighter will do better than most.. they just have to show up with their game face on.

his best chance would be taking anderson down to the ground. I still think anderson would win.

No. The reason people are having such problems is his striking game is so technical, but Silvas is even more so. Silva also picks his spots and makes every strike count, the difference would be the power advantage Silva has. Machidas strikes is a point type striking, while Silvas is a KO type. Plus he would be able to utilize his long legs and just wear Machida down with kicks and knees.

considering that these 2 are training partners.........I hardly see this fight ever happenning especially since Machida has yet to lose at 205. It's kind of like saying that Matt Lindland and Dan Henderson will fight.
but let's say this does happen, I think Machida will have the edge. I dont know why but I just think so.
I would love to see Machida vs Liddell

I dont think he has a boring style, if youve seen some of his other fights with Franklin or Wanderlay you will probably agree with me. But I still think Silva will probably take this fight.

Silva would tear him apart, unless Machida runs like he does. if they actually engage, Silva would hand him a beating, but Lyoto doesn't look like he wants to engage with anyone.

Machida the brazilian Kalib Starnes? Go play in traffic. Just because you would rather watch kimbo/abbott fight doesnt mean Machida is boring. He figures guys out and beats the piss out of them.
