I think by december GSP could be facing bj or anderson because after he possibly beats fitch then the welterweight division is basically wide open except for alves who should win one more if he beats hughes, so gsp would be ready for a superfight with either of them. Anderson needs to defend one more time possibly against okami and bj one more time against the winner of huerta and florian. so its very possible for a superfight by december

what do you think

It will be BJ and GSP, everybody is already talking about it and more people wanna see that fight because its a rematch of close decision. If wandy moves down to middleweight theres still something to prove for anderson.

Why should Alves need to win one more if he beat Hughes? That would put him on a 5 fight winning streak in the UFC and it would mean that he beat Lytle, Karo, and Hughes all in a row. That seems pretty deserving of a shot

Peronally, I would like to see both BJ and Penn defend numerous times to cement their dominance in their respective divisions before thinking about re-match. The LW division is stocked with potentially great fights and the WW division was put on hiatus long enough with the TUF bullshit, so I dont want to see it slowed down again for a 'champions' fight. If Penn wants to vacate his title and move up, that's fine although I'll think he'll be sorely disappointed with the results. Penn's performance over Sherk wasnt enough to justify a WW title shot. I'm not saying that Penn isnt a great fighter, he is.. but Sherk just stood there and took that beating.
Other Penn fights I would rather see within the next year.
vs. Florian
vs. Diaz (whom I think would give BJ the most problems stylistically)
vs. Clementi

-OUT-

. I think Penn should move up only when there are no more matchups for him at LW, and the same for GSP at WW. I could think of so many fighters in both weight classes that deserve title shots before they fight each other again.

I don't want to see this at all by the end of the year. GSP has to beat Fitch and then Alves (if he can beat Hughes). If Hughes beats Alves, then GSP should have to face the winner of the Hughes/Serra grudge match (unless there's another more deserving candidate at that point).

Penn needs to defend against the Huerta/Florian winner at least.

Any of those scenarios puts it into next year.

But if both guys get a couple defenses in, we'll be ready for it sometime in 2009.

As far as Silva, if anything he needs to face a LHW, not a WW.

For God sake stop making these threads. Penn and GSP really technically have not defended their titles once yet.

I agree that they should probably stick with their respective divisions, BUT as a fan I would love to see Penn add some more weight and have the three go round robin in a mini super fight card. Call it the 'King of the Octagon'.

Oh, but don't have the fighters where a crown and robe after they win like in the WWE.
