Las Vegas, NV (USA) – In yet another historic moment in the quest to conquer new territory and bring the best of mixed martial arts to fans around the globe, the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization today announced the first-ever UFC event to take place in Minnesota. In the main event, Brock Lesnar, fighting out of his hometown of Minneapolis, will return to the Octagon™ to face UFC Hall of Famer and former PRIDE® superstar Mark "The Hammer" Coleman, and in what many are calling the best lightweight fight of 2008, Kenny "KenFlo" Florian will square off against Roger "El Matador" Huerta in a battle that will move the winner one step closer to a 155-pound title shot. The Ultimate Fighting Championship will present UFC 87: SEEK AND DESTROY, featuring Lesnar vs. Coleman and Florian vs. Huerta, live from Target Center in Minneapolis Saturday, August 9, 2008.

Im sure that'll piss off the purists that Brock on his second fight in the UFC and he's headlining especially after losing to Mir in his debut. I understand its down to the marketability of Lesnar, but surely Florian/Huerta is the true headline event for this card???

I dont Mind Lesnar being the main Event. The rest of the card has great fights, and everyone knows the even if lesnar wasnt the main event he would be the reason most people would go/ Buy PPV, by him being the main event they can market him more heavily.

Who cares what order they fight in? If this was the first fight on the card people would be stoked. I don't like Lesnar either and no, he hasn't earned main event status but what difference does that make? That is the UFC's decision. As long as I get to see the fights I'm going to save my bitching and complaining for bullshit decisions and early stoppages.

lesnar /coleman has snoozefest written all over it. way to promote your heavyweight division ufc. i think kimbo needs to fight lesnar, the winner will be allowed to continue in mma, the loser won't and his name can never again be mentioned anywhere. that way we only have to hear about one of the crappy hype machines

Does it really matter in an event who the headliner is... does it change who the other events are or how a fighter prepares or competes? How often in the days of Tyson Boxing were the fights on his undercard better then his fight? quite frequently if I recall... If it gets more people to get the show and more people paying attention to the sport by having BRock as the headliner who cares.. plus it should still be a good fight... I wonder if Brock has learned anything from the Mir fight.

Lesner is not good for the sport. I don't know what UFC is thinking to make him a main event. It will be another no buy for me. THATS JUST MY OPINION

I'm happy with it.I've been a fan of colemans since I can remember first seeing him fight. It's only lesnars second 3rd MMA fight, but what the hell.I can think of a lot less stellar main events.

why would this fight be a snooze fest?? lesnar vs mir was non stop action, that should have been finished earlier than it was. IMO lesnar is a very entertaining fighter (of course thats only after 2 fights). this one will be over quick with lesnar winning 1st rd tko

I dunno, I like to see a title fight in the main event as much as the next guy, but I don't see how you can say that "this will be a snoozefest" or that "lesnar is bad for the sport". Can you justify those statements at all? Coleman's fights are always exciting... They pretty much never make it out of round 1 win or lose. As far as lesnar I'm pretty sure that judging by his last fight he's not going to be boring at all.

How is he bad for the sport? Everyone thinks because he was in the WWE he's not a legit wrestler or something? The dude's amateur record is like over 100 wins with something like 5 or 6 losses. That's ridiculous. Ken shamrock was a "pro wrestler" in Japan and so was Barnett, does that mean they aren't legitimate competitors? I don't really care what he was doing up until now, if someone trains for 4 months and puts on a performance like he did against Frank Mir I don't see how you can say he's bad for the sport. He's going to bring in money an fans, and if he develops submission defense he could pretty much annihilate the UFC's Heavyweight division other than nogueira.
