So every MMA promotion out there is rumored to be in some sort of financial trouble. Even UFC is rumored to have cash issues. It seems with all the rumors out there we won't have a sport soon.

Actually recently I read an interview where Dana said that Zuffa has actually been turning a profit from fights. I'm not saying the future of MMA is secured by any means, but I think we're starting to see at least one organization well on it's way.

Yeah i read that interview too! Hopefully other brands will learn from the UFCs ways and we can have a few healthy MMA companies about.

So UFC is making money? Well if that is the case then they should be able to increase fighter pay right? That way they make life harder on the competition.

Also I still hear about UFC's debt dragging them down. Will I be hearing about that debt for years or until they sell the UFC? Seems Zuffa could claim poverty until the end of time.

I think the ufc will be fine, but it seems the smaller orgs are turning over losses all the time. Its hard not to see why though when you look at the affliction card coming up, id hate to be picking up the wage bill for that.

The UFC pay their fighters more than any other org as a whole, not to mention any other sport.
I could only hope for the days when boxers or Judo practitioners are getting paid $5000 for one fight!
Anyway I don't want to drag this thread off topic but I think many of the smaller MMA orgs could learn a lot from the UFC.

On the whole I don't see MMA going anywhere but mainstream in the next few years so I personally think its safe. Something drastic would have to happen to rattle the rise its on right now.
And as a few posters above me have said, as long as theirs people willing to pay the ticket price there'll always be jobs for the people involved!

There are only two orgs right now that I would say are looking good from the financial standpoint. Dream is backed by FEG which in Japan is an absolute combat sports giant, K-1 is unrivaled in kickboxing and Hero's had to be losing money every show but they still kept going, now Dream has better matchmaking, fighters, tv deals, and seem to be better all around. The UFC has been reportedly offered in the billions for the promotion and turned it down so I don't think their bleeding their money out. The only problem I have with both organizations is that Dream needs to get consistant(doubtful) and the UFC needs to quit losing stars(also doubtful). All around I coulden't be happier with MMA right now, you have guys like affliction putting on the best card i've seen in a long while, Dream seems to be the resurgence of Japanes mma(my personal favorite), the new companies are forcing the UFC to put on cards like UFC 84 and not like UFC 72. Oh and more people should watch K-1 so we get all the events in north america live. haha.

The sport as a whole is on it's way up. That is actually why you see so many little guys trying to get involved and failing. UFC will survive. I can't say I have that faith in any other org, but the sport will go on regardless.

Good numbers you add some info there.

To be honest I totally think that the UFC is safe and super profitable long term. The reason I started this thread is because I see so many people act like if the UFC falters one bit they will go out of business.

I just feel that Zuffa is looting out like crazy and fighter pay, while the best in the biz, is falling behind.

Beyond pay I am sickened by Dana's attitude and behaviour.

If Zuffa paid $2 million in 2001, how did they rack up $350 million in debt before becoming profitable? I have no soure for that $350 million number but I have seen it everywhere and had it told to me as fact on these forums so I am going with it. The Zuffa propaganda is tricky.
