Jens Pulver's Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight title defense against B.J. Penn in January of 2002 should have been the last time anyone questioned the idea of having 155-pounders headline a pay-per-view event.
The belief that undersized fighters could deliver at the till was ludicrous to many. American mixed martial arts fans were so obsessed with heavier fighters and their presumptive knockout power, they argued, that there wasn't time to care about skinny lightweights.
Yet there they were, "L'il Evil" and "The Prodigy," overshadowing "The Iceman." And Murilo Bustamante's middleweight-title win over Dave Menne in the Octagon? Just a mere prelude to the evening's main event.

Hell yeah I love the light weights. That is where most of the population is so it gives us the biggest talent pool and thusly makes for great fights.

lightweight is the most exciting division IMO. they dont get tired as fast as most heavier fighters and their speed is phenomenal. Transitions are quicker and the pace is quicker.

Meh, hopefully the HW's can come back. The LW's have good scrappy fights that usually consist of MMA rather than just standup or ground fighting. But the savage in me likes brutal KO power that the heavier fighters have.
That and I absolutely cannot stand P4P rankings or discussions of any kind, and even though these two are not the same things I would absolutely love to switch P4P rankings with openweight rankings. PLEASE!
