You guys keep talking about Randy and fighters making 100 or 200 thousand a fight but that is not who this fight is for. Randy and as much as it pains me Tito, are the only big names standing up for the young fighters. I don't think everyone needs to make millions but to pay one of these porfessional athletes 3,000 dollars a fight is ridiculous. As a fighter you have to suck it up and hope that you can build a solid enough name to force them to pay you more or you leave. If you fight 3 times a year that puts you making 9,000 bucks a year. It is just a shame that you can find Asst. Mgr.'s at your local Foot Locker making double that. I guess the lesson for young fighters is don't lose or you may have to start sellin some shoes.
I may have read the post wrong, but it sounded to me like Coututre said he wanted to be a paid a fair market price for his work in the octagon and that that just wouldn't happen in the UFC. Now again, I'm not saying these guys are paid enough, or are even close to on par with other athletic organizations, but I think time will fix that. Now, I do agree with you that the younger guys should make enough to get by, but they know the risks and paydays when they sign up. It doesn't make it right, but truthfullness and righteousness aren't always mutually inclusive or exclusive. The problem with Randy is that the young fighters fight for those pennys because they love the sport enough to put their asses on the line over and over and over again. If Couture cared about those guys he would get his ass back in the octagon and fight to help promote the company so that, hopefully, those guys can achieve higher status and arrive at bigger paydays. At this point in time it looks like Captain America is more concerned about the big bucks than the sport as a whole.

Posted by xburbx The UFC pays better overall than boxing so as I have said before, if fighters want to complain, go find another job.
hate to sound like an ass but your 100% wrong on that one.
No he is right Pookie the UFC over all pays better. For proof just look HERE.
The undercards get paid more but overall it doesnt say in that article that UFC pays out more then boxing. It also completely neglects the fact that boxers get paid for sponsors as well. This is hardly a conclusive piece of evidence.

Thats the hole point over all it takes better care of its fighters. It doesn't bring up the money MMA fighters make from sponsors either as its only talking about the pay from who is running the event.
Its very good article and explains one of the major issue with the way boxing pays it fighters. So for Randy or any other person to say this boxer got payed so much more is just BS what about all the under card fighters. Having a boxing pay scale doesn't help anyone but the big names of the sport and screws the guys working their way up and the fans. Its funny that the 2 major complainers about pay are Tito and Randy both are payed really well. But yet they think that we should have a boxing pay scale and you know why because it favors them. I agree the UFC should up their pay and they will as time goes by this sport hit main stream less the 6 years ago so people need to give it time. The UFC is doing something right because they are the only company not loosing money and paying the fighters more than the other orgs.
