It's getting harder and harder to talk about Kimbo Slice, though it's not from a lack of trying. It seems like everybody has an opinion on the Internet-brawler-turned-pro-fighter.
Either he's the worst thing to happen to the sport of mixed martial arts, or he's the next big superstar.

I say Hype Job.
At least until he fights a real fighter and earns some respect.
You know what Bas and his other trainers can whine all they want but remember respect is earned not given freely.

I agree as well... he's a 2-0 MMA fighter who is trained by Bas Rutten with a big profile thanks to his streets fights. He's a prospect right now... nothing less, nothing more.

Assholes need to stop making Kimbo into something that hes not trying to be... and whoever posted it, abovve about Bas and other whining... well you need to gain some perspective. It is everyone else who is whining about how much attention Kimbo is getting, they're just defending themselves from personal attack due to jellousy. Stop being a hater. As pook and others said hes a prospect, lots of things can happen but i honestly see a Kimbo Lesner fight down the line a few years once both are established mixed martial artists.. time will tell.

Nicely written piece. EliteXC has put Kimbo in their mouth...they are starting to chew...and when they are done they will spit him out. Unfortunately EliteXC has put Kimbo in a must win situation. If he loses one or two fights to the tomato cans at the bottom of the barrel he is done. If he beats everyone they put in front of him, including credible opponents...he is golden...and his "star" will shine bigger. Corporations worship money...it supersedes everything else. MMA is no different. I say throw Cabbage at him...the fighter...not the vegetable. EliteXC's drive for cash has blinded them to sound decisions.

Kimbo is and will prove to be the real deal and a superstar in mma.Kimbos accurate striking and power can take him far in this sport.I predict the UFC will be begging for Mr.Slice within a year and people will be calling him a chicken if he doesn't join the club.

He`s getting alot of attention since he had a huge name before ever stepping into an actual mma ring. He`s a pretty good fighter considering that he`s only on his 3rd fight. He`s a big tough guy, but if he faces people who can take him down, or sub him he won`t look that great. He`ll become a pretty good fighter and sell alot of tickets if he`s allowed to grow. Look at guys like GG, instant hype, thrown to the wolve`s now looks like crap.

Kimbo has no back ground what so ever in any forum of a ground game. The guy is in his 30s and just now training on the ground. I don't ever see him being a top 20 or top 30 because of his lack of a ground game. There are very few fighters that have made it in the sport with out having a back ground in some forum of a ground game and I don't see Kimbo being one of those people because all those guys are pro level kick boxers or boxers which Kimbo is not even close to being. People can up talk his striking all they want but he is just a mid level striker and once he faces someone with strong stand up we will see that. So he isn't a great strike and has no ground game to speak of. So he is all Hype!! Now I don't blame Kimbo for anything but I do think Shaw and EliteXC/CBS have bet the farm on him and will do everything they can to protect him. EliteXC and Shaw stink of boxing style corruption and I feel they should be run out of MMA before they make the permanent black mark they have already made on MMA worse.

I like how everyone seems to bash Kimbo when its really not his fault. I think Jim Rome put it best when he said something along the lines of "its not Kimbo's fault that they threw money at him and he said yes...who wouldnt?"
Personally I feel this is Elite XC's fault for not correctly Marketing Kimbo. They are pushing him so hard I mean no one has much pressure on them with 4 fights under their belt (except for mebbe Brock). Some people seem to think the bad refing is Kimbo's fault but what do you want this guy to do??? Hes going out there and hes fighting. Thats all he can do and as I think the CBS program was a disaster all in all you can't blame Slice for any of this imo.

Even with 2 years of constant floor training with the bet will not help. His flame will fizzle out in 2 -3 fights from now when he meets a world class BJJ dude, game over. Hype Over,next...
