Earlier this month at UFC 83, Nathan "Rock" Quarry (10-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) used everything from Muay-Thai strikes to a playground taunt en route to earning one of the most lopsided decisions in UFC history. His opponent, "The Ultimate Fighter 3" cast member Kalib Starnes (8-3-1 MMA, 2-3 UFC), has since been released from the UFC, and Quarry is anxious to return to the octagon for an opportunity to again prove himself as a top middleweight contender.

I'm starting to really like Quarry. He's shown me alot in his last two fights. I'm hoping he keeps getting better becuase he definetally makes the 185 pound division more solid. Maybe a match against Koshcheck if he wins?

My understanding was that he and Matt Lindland had some personal issues they couldn't resolve. Something to do with the way Team Quest fighters' careers were being affected by Lindlands poor interpersonal relations with various promoters. It's a shame too because as I understand it, Quarry was one of the founding members of the team (along with Lindland, Couture, and Hendo). He was a Matt Thorton student at Straight Blast when Thorton hooked up with Lindland and Couture to develop their clinch work for MMA, and the whole 3 pt aliveness philosophy. I may be wrong on some of these points though, a lot of this is piece meal from many various Quarry, Couture, and Thorton videos and interviews. If anyone can correct any mis-information I may have, I'd love to hear it.

I think Nate Quarry is an admirable human being. Great fighter, respectful to other fighters...
