It's possible, according to Rich Franklin's manager, Monte Cox. Although Ace hasn't fought at 205 since 2004, it seems Franklin's side thinks it might be best for both him and UFC if he moves up in weight, although their decision will ultimately be based on what UFC wants to do.

I hope not. I feel like he can hang with most guys in the division, but i just dont think hes got the power to be able to finish them. 185s an ideal weight for him becouse hes pretty much the strongest guy in the division and thats where his main advantage lies. He should just stay at 185 and hope anderson moves up (which i think he will once he finishes okami)

I think it would be a great move. As the MW division is trying to rebuild itself. So really there is no point for rich to stay at 185 just sitting there being the #2 guy knocking off all the contenders but not being able to fight for the title because of anderson.
I mean there are like 3 decent match up's left for him at MW, Martin Kampmann(if he wins against jorge) and then maybe bisping(if he beats leben but which i hope leben wins and can still fight with DUI charge) and Dan Henderson who could go back to 205, so they could possibly fight up there.
I mean there are so many more exciting matchups for him at 205. Like a rematch with Machida. and Forrest vs Rich would be one hell of a fight, prolly FOTY. and many more solid match ups and then maybe he could compete for the title if he wins and finishes people unlike just sitting #2 at MW with no title shot.

I dont know why this rumor keeps coming up. I dont care what his manager says, Rich just said in an interview right before the Lutter fight that he will NEVER move to LHW. He stated that he used to have a really hard time making weight at 185 but now his body has changed so much he can make weight easily, it doesn't make sense for him to move up. These are a paraphrase of his own words of course.
I dont know what never means to everyone else, but to me it means "not gonna happen"
If I could find the video I would, but it w as on the UFC website and I dont see it now. I'm sure at least one of you have seen it as well and can confirm.

Yeah i saw that to. I noticed his manager said it was ultimately up to the ufc to so i dont see why they'd take a top fighter from a weaker division and put him in the strongest division. I guess we'll just have to see what happens, but i hope he stays at 185.

it makes all the sense in the world. no one wants to see rich vs anderson 3, and maybe at LHW he fight put on exciting fights against top contenders and possibly fight for a title. theres so many possibilites for rich at 205, where as his options at MW are decresing.

rich is not even close to big enough to fight competitively at 205. LHW is the most stacked division in the UFC. You have fighters 2-3 inches taller and cutting from 230 lbs. I think it would be a terrible move. I honestly don't think he'll do it anyway, as I've heard him say over and over again he wouldn't.

i think he should stay at middle, he might not get another shot at anderson silva, but i do think if anyone beats him rich will fight that person for the belt. true he might not knock some guys off the ladder, but i think at 205 he would be too small, and get blitzed

people doubted me and said no way it could happen. He has no other choice so I laugh at all those who said "it will never happen" HAHA If this happens of course

Rich moving to LHW makes a little sense to me. He can beat just about everyone in the MW division, but has not come close to defeating Silva on two occasions. Moving to LHW gives him new challenges. I don't think he will ever be a champ at LHW, but for now there is nowhere for him to go in the MW division exept being #2 or 3.

i like the match ups that could be created if he moved up but some would not be good for him. for example wandy or jackson are both huge.

Styles make fights.... and Sandersons style just breaks Rich... he cannot beat the only guy in the div that is better then he is... does that mean he should just quit no...
GSP is gonna end up being the Anderson of WW no-one in WW is going to be able to consistantly beat GSP... the only thing that is differnt is there is not and UBER number 2 fighter for WW... simply becasue the champ doesn't look like i can be beat there is no reason for everyone to just out of that weight class... Rich is not going anywhere... but as he said they just got to be careful who they put up against him becase he will sqash their title shot
