Although he plans on focusing on training his fighters for now, recently retired UFC fighter Charles McCarthy also stated recently that he'd like to be a referee. His goal is to be a ref in florida and work for UFC and other organizations, and also maybe do promotional work.

Id be worried about a recent fighter becoming a referee like this. The decision a ref makes are often subjective and i worry a former fighter might be biased.

that is the reason why Herb Dean won't reff any of the Diesel, joe rigg's fights, because he ,lost to him when he was still a fighter (2-3 for those who didn't know Herb Dean's Rec as a fighter) and as such can't make the ever important judgment call due to previous circumstances... so i guess he could just not ref any Bisping fights... or whoever else doesn't like his face and vice versa

Yeah I would dissagree with any ex-fighter becoming a ref because of that ....however I think they could try out some of the older less recently retired fighters as judges.

i dont know i think if he starts to Ref he should start out in lower leagues. He also needs to ref for a few years before ever being considered by the UFC. I do worry about him being biased as well. Let him stay outta the game a bit then come back and then start to REF
