Welcome back to the Double Leg Breakdown. It was another great UFC card last weekend (short of one miserable fight that I hope never to think about again; I'm looking at you Starnes). I was really happy to see Michael Bisping in good form, but man, did he look skinny! I thought the bar where I watched the fight ordered it in 16:9 format but projected it in 4:3 format. Nice to see that he cut the weight right with diet and not just cutting waterweight.

I haven't forgot about GSPs ground game.
Franlin has pretty damn good standup and Silva gotpast it to get the clinch.
If someone had better standup than Silva then most likely Silva would have the better ground game
I could see GSP taking Silva down alot hmmmmmm with all the takedown GSP could win this fight but how would he handle the hard hitting Silva? one good hit how would GSP handle it? this would be awsome to see as they are some of the best standup fighters but this article could be right GSP would more than likly would take this fight down but we would have to keep in mind Hendos atempt at the takedown attack he got cliped and that was all it took
ahhhhhh Silva by TKO

People are underestimating Silva's ground game, his guard is unbelievable, he can trip you with his long legs push you off balance and get back up if he wants to.
Silva wherever the fight takes place, 1rst round stoppage.

im with you guys, i don't think GSP can hang, GSP is afraid of getting hit right now, i think he'll try and take it to the ground and Anderson will capitalize on any opening and drill GSP, this will cause GSP to get apprehensive about his TD attempts and then Anderson is right where he want to be, in GSP's head. IMO there is no way for Georges to take this fight... Silva is just the bigger stronger guy, and he is not afraid to get hit :D

It all comes down to strength imo. The reason why GSP is so dominant at WW is because he is just freakishly strong against everyone he fights. He is able to do what he wants, when he wants.
If he goes to MW and fights Anderson Silva with the same strength advantage he enjoys at WW, i can see GSP roughing Silva up on the ground and taking a 3-5th round TKO/Sub or decision win.
Of course, every round they start on their feet and GSP will be dodging bullets every time.
I think if they HAD to stand up, Silva would take it, but I think if GSP had the strength advantage, he could neutralize Silva's ground game.

GSP is a great WW. What's w/ someone starting one of these every day?
Silva is king at MW and would destroy GSP. I also think w/ as big as Andersen is for a MW he prob'ly couldn't make 170, if he did he'd be HUGE. Either way GSP wouldn't have a strength adv.
GSP = no chance.

There's still people in the WW division who can give GSP some troubles, so I don't want to think about Anderson raping him yet.

I am a GSP fan and I am not too fond of Anderson, but I see Silva hurting GSP. On their feet Silva will hurt and destroy just about anyone in any weight class. GSP probably could take him down and control him for a few minutes...but we know how that ends up. Hendo got him down and controlled him, Lutter got him down and controlled him....like I said GSP may get him down too...but eventually he would "get caught" and be forced to Tapout like the rest. That is if he even gets him down. Silva could win it with a few punches, kicks and knees on their feet. I wonder if Machida could get down to 185? He might be able to "pull the legs off the spider".

if the two ever fought at 185...Silva > GSP badly.
Silva is the more dominant fighter, he has better striking and better submissions. GSP has better wrestling, but Silva also has the poise, confidence and the rest of the intangibles.
i have to spread the love to the people whom i agree with (Pookie, juanez)
i say Silva wins 9 times out of 10

Silva is the better fighter.
Reach- both Standup- Silva GNP- GSP Guard- Silva Subs- Silva Wrestling- GSP Conditioning- GSP Chin- Silva Speed overall- GSP
Dominance- Silva Defences- Silva Athleticism- GSP
Silva is the better fighter for the style of todays MMA. Silva will knock you out from a distance with little effort. He'll Knock you out from the inside or clinch. If you manage to take him down you're looking at a world class BJJ game. He's too lanky to control.
His only weak position is from the top position on the ground and that is just a plain dominant position.
GSP on the other hand has a world class wrestling game, a very good striking game(that he has been beaten using) and very good submissions. He lacks a brilliant guard IMO and lacks a GNP game.
Silva is one of the most dominant champions ever. GSP has 1 defense. Noone knows who is left in the middleweight division to test Silva(granted it is the weakest division short of heavyweight.)
