Fighters from the Ultimate Fighting Championship's partner organization, World Extreme Cagefighting, could be headed to the UFC as the organization tries to further distinguish the two fight promotions.

According to an interview with Dana White that appeared on Yahoo! Canada, some of the WEC's middleweights and light heavyweights could be folded into the UFC.

"We're going to make the WEC the smaller weights and the UFC will be the heavier weights," White said. "We'll probably take some of the guys in the higher weights, the champions over there and bring them into UFC. We're still trying to figure that out."

This could totally add some depth to some of the weaker divisions in the UFC, and that can only be good news.

However, I think I would rather see the UFC add the WEC featherweights to the organization. The 145 weight class is so action packed. Those guys go full out 3 rounds without gassing, no problem....

This could be a good interchange between the 2 Zuffa owned promotions.

i think light heavy is gone for sure
as is middleweight meaning they will either hold off on okami or have okami fight silva and next would be paulo or chael
and i think they will keep welter but i think condit is going to the ufc for sure

This is an excellent idea. I've wondered why this hasn't happened already. I would like to see Stann get KO'd by someone who can actually fight. Plus the middleweight division can use all the contenders it can get. The thing is, I heard Anderson Silva and Paulo Filho are friends and they won't fight each other. If that's true it's a bummer. The Spider is running out of flys.

Definitely should bring over the featherweights and make a featherweight class, Sonnen, Filho, Stann, Marshall and Condit should all be brought over as well. Condit will be top tier in no time.

I hope the ufc doesn't cut the Lw division from the ufc that would be shit 100%, stupid idea.
Now bringing the best of the wec over and the featherweight division I'm all for that.
Drop the wec all together after that.
6 divisions in the ufc sounds better to me.

Sounds like they'll keep Bantamweights, Featherweights, and Lightweights in WEC for sure. LIkely Welterweights too, but bring over Middleweights & Light Heavyweights.

Doug Marshall vs. Luis Cane would be a good one.

something just occured to me and I think they will still have 2 lightweight divisions I really, really can't see them telling Penn,Florian,Huerta, Stevenson, Griffin, Fisher, Diaz, guida, and so many, many more excellent fighters that your no longer in the ufc. That makes no sense.

Not to mention their tv baby the ultimate fighter I guess no more lightweight seasons. The next world extreme cagefighting fighter, well maybe it sounds better haha but not the same no one has dreamed of fighting in the WEC.

I say unify all the titles, make it one big UFC and give us 2 live UFC events a month.
One Pay Per View and one regular television.
If the IFL ends up finished a huge chunk of talent will be available as well.
I like WEC. They have some great fighters and have put on some good shows.
There is no real depth though. A few more shows and we will start seeing rematches. Unwarranted rematches.
I say fold WEC.
Assimilation is needed.

depth in the weak weights and taking away GSP and bj and etc.. think...

WEC 135, 145, 155, 170

UFC 185, 205, HW...

I guess that 170 could swing either way

Stann vs. Thiago/Irvin/Alexander/Bonnar/Jardine/etc sounds amazing.

I'd really like to see someone actually test him as I have no idea how he compares to other LHW's with just fighting other WEC fighters.

Not a good idea IMO...the WEC fighters for the most part wont do too well in the UFC...LHW div there is incredibly lacking, and the UFC doesn't need Stann. WEC only has good WW and FW divs....but WW not good enough to make a significant impact in the STACKED WW Div of the UFC. UFC could absord the MW Div, but again what for...the MWs there (Filho and Chonnen excluded) wouldn't fair nicely in the UFC, not to mention UFCs MW Div is finally up to par again....so really what's the point in this?
