UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra knows he isn't going to be the fan favorite when he steps into the octagon at Bell Centre in Montreal in front of the expected largest crowd in North American mixed martial arts history on Saturday night.
"I'm having my trainers and sparring partners boo me on a regular basis, so I'm getting used to it," said Serra, who defends the title against hometown hero Georges St. Pierre. "It's the same cage, it doesn't matter the city."

He can have his corner boo him all he wants...2-4 guys who you KNOW boo you versus having 30k fans of the guy you're fighting booing you is a HUUUUGGGEEE difference. I dont know how you could actually prepare for that. He's obviously already bothered by it or he wouldn't be trying to get his guys to prep him.
Here you go Matt

Meh, i think its mostly all Hype, and he instantly became the "villian" when they had decided upon having this fight in Canada. Just the way it goes when you're not the home town hero.

Serra has done way too much #$%* talking on this one.
To GSP, the MMA community and all the MMA fans in Montreal.
This is the first light hearted comment I've heard from Serra (having his corner boo him.)
He should stick to that kind of commentary and he'd have stayed as that likeable underdog. (Like Forrest Griffin always seem to do.)
This is all a result of too much talk trash talk on Serra's part.

See I think the WW div stays more active and competitive if Serra wins...the hierarchy is busted wide open with him on top. It makes for more interesting match ups and allows for other fighters a real chance at a title shot. Just look at Fitch....really how many guys did he need to defeat before he deserved that shot. I think if you 6 or so in a row then you've earned it.

Looks like Serra did his job. all of his talk is to hype the fight. i don't understand why people react so vehemently to this. he is merely trying to elicit a response from the Canadian crowd and get GSP off of his game (which won't happen..GSP is too focused). It is called fight hype people, it isn't really personal, he is aiming to get more fans angry at him so they tune in to watch GSP try to beat him for it...and from comments like these (not to pick on you, your comments were just the closet thing i could fins on this thread to a negative response from this) it seems it is working.

Wow can we all please pause and give this guy a round of applause for that lame attempt at a burn. I guess I didnt expect much from someone who has a "cock" for an avatar but really man are you such a loser that you waste your time with crap like that? For your information no I wasnt able to catch "Never Back Down" but the fact that you commented on it means that you probably have so who is the douchebag? So take your own advice and "eat shit" and if you cant come up with something better than a lame movie reference and an ignorant comment , maybe you should just spare the rest of us your opinion.
To everyone else, I know crap like this just brings down the credibility of this site so sorry I apologize. Thats all i have to say.

Alot of people like GSP not just Canadians. It's very likely that people root for GSp not just because its in Canada and not juts cauze Serra is a talker.
Serra has been this unlikeable dick for a while. I was voting for St. Pierre the first time but held nothing against serra and was going to root for him against hughes but about half way through the show I just couldn't stand the guy and wanted Hughes to destroy em.
This article isn't as bad but serra needs to be quiet I really think he is going to be punded for about 4 rounds before the ref comes in. Perhaps a pounding from Gsp n then Hughes will send serra back to 155 n humble him a while.
