The odds seemed insurmountable, the goal unattainable for the challenger at UFC 69.

Georges St-Pierre was the present and future of the UFC welterweight division one year ago. He was universally recognized as the top 170-lb fighter in the world, and among the top three in the game, pound-for-pound.

he can, but i don't think he will.

that article brought up a interesting point i've discussed with my buddies b4, GSP did an amazing job of changing his game plan after a loss to matt hughes.

i think 9 out of 10 times GSP wins. But this is mma. I'm defintly setting up my parlay for another upset night.

Serra could do it again. Most of us hope he doesn't because we can't stand his attitude and want to see him pulverized.

I think a lot of the time people pick the winner based on how likable or not a fighter is. For instance if a person used to watch WWE and are used to all the trash talkinh and fight hyping then they naturaly like Serra and Shamrock. But if a person is a MMA original they tend to like the nice guy approach like A. Silva and GSP.

Do people really think GSP is the nice guy approach? Ive always thought of him as the quiet but cocky guy. I know im going to get flamed away by the GSP cult but i cant stand him.

most fighters are cocky. its belief in ones own abilities. michael jordan was cocky. tiger woods is cocky. if u dont believe in yourself, how is someone else supposed to?

He probably is a nice guy but he comes off very cocky to me. He's not good at the trash talking but he certainly tries. He to me is just as cocky as anyone else.

I like serra's approach. He just says what he feels. He has never seemed cocky in any interviews i've read or watched. He obviously doesn't plan to lose but he certainly doesn't imply st. pierre isn't a very talented dude.

GSP by everything! The only Problem is that he can't really shoot on Serra because Serra is short. Standing with Serra is a mistake because Serra's style is a bad matchup.

It could be more even but.... GSP BY EVERYTHING except standup...

Most people didn't see that Serra was winning the standup before the rabbit haymaker even landed.

I think Serra can do it again. Do I think he will? NO! Although I will be routing for Serra to win this fight, I'm not sure he will do it. I think GSP will be way more careful on his feet this time than in the first match. The only think is I don't think it's going to be easy for GSP to get Serra to the ground. Serra is a stocky dude and has good takedown defense. Go Serra!

Not everyone likes GSP's (fake?) attitude. He's a weird little dude. Serra's a way more likeable guy. The rest of your theory isn't even worth discussing, I see no basis for it.
