He was no doubt over powered in that fight with Gray Maynard. How do you guys feel about it? Should Edgar drop to 145? I think he could do some serious damage in the WEC.

I think Edgar could remain in the top 10 for a long time, but never see him making it to the top (simply due to his size). Florian gets away with it due to his excellent standup and BJJ (although Florian is still bigger than Edgar).
For money reasons, he would be better off staying in the UFC at 155 and staying in the top ten (possibly a good stepping stone guy), but if he ever wants to hold a belt, he may want to consider dropping to the WEC/featherweight.

yeah, another decent wrestler with size at 155 is going to give him problems. Maynard pretty much just threw him around out there there... I would love to see him at 145 and challenge Faber eventually for the 145 crown.

this seems to be a spoiler thread as the title means that he lost, all the UK guys still have 3 days until its aired here, just a bit of consideration would be nice cos you dont need to make it obvious in the thread title - why not just put "Frankie Edgar"?

He can hang at 155 for sure, but he'll never crack top 10 imo. At 145 on the other hand, i think hed be a contender. Its just a matter of whether he wants to drop from the big show to a smaller stage.
I usually dont like it when a guy looses one fight and everybody says he should drop, but frankie and mike bisping are two guys ive always thought should of cut to a lower weight.

He beat Griffin who is stronger then Maynard IMO. I think it was just bad gameplanning. It was his first loss. Every great fighter has loss, your only going to reach your full potential if you lose at least once.
He still has a great future at 155. No need to move down IMO, especially after two great performances against Griffin and Fisher. He just gassed and IMO it was attributed to the elevation in Denver. He's never gassed like that before or at least that early.

Like others have said, it's too early to come to that conclusion. Plus, I always think it's better to be top 10 in the UFC than #1 in the WEC. He's got plenty of exciting fights ahead of him.

I think the altitiude did affect him a little bit. He was tiring alot earlier then he would normally.
But Maynard came in with the perfect strategy... his hands looked on point and he used his wrestling to sprawl effectively.

Yep. i've beens saying it awhile, and I am glad that he fought someone bigger than him with the same skill set this time. It may not seem like it right now, but this may be the best thing for his career.

he would be a force at 155, i think it would be the best move because he will not win any titles at 155, any bigger wrestler will give him trouble, but he could beat any non wrestler at 155.

Why is everyone abandoning ship. Edgar is still great. Maynard won because of take downs. I feel that Edgar got the best of the stand up and tried a couple of subs but he wasn't himself because of the altitude. Granted the altitude effected everyone including Gray but I just think It would have been a completely different fight had it been in vegas or cali. Gray earned it. I think it was smart for Florian to be in Denver for 3 weeks prior to the event. Lauzon put up a great fight until he couldn't move anymore. Altitude sucks.

My opinion is that Edgar should stay at '55.
He got beat last night but he really wasn't dominated by Maynard.
My impression after that fight was that Maynard is better than I thought, not that Edgar was to small at 155. I think Edgar will be fine.
Now, if he loses 2 or 3 in a row, I could see him making the move but not now.
