UFC president Dana White said the company had released one big-name heavyweight from his contract while admitting interest in arguably the biggest heavyweight name of all.

White said the UFC released former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia from his contract with one fight remaining on it. The move made Sylvia a free agent and he is expected to sign a contract with M-1 Global, where he would be teamed with his agent, M-1 Global chief executive officer Monte Cox.

Biggest heavyweight name. Watch them sign Hong Man Choi or whatever his name is and correct what they were saying and how they were actually signing the biggest heavyweight (this is a joke, I don't think he could make weight if the UFC signed him). Either that or someone with just a really really big name syllable wise. I have a hard time picturing the UFC allowing Fedor to do Sambo and all that, and if they don't Fedor probably would never sign.

I honestly think they would consider doing a 1 fight deal with Fedor at this point. It seems plausible that Fedor/Couture fight will happen at some point regardless...they might figure that it may as well be in the Octagon if it's gonna happen. It would also force Couture to stay honest. Of coarse, if a 1 fight deal was agreed upon, I have no doubt there would be some sort of no-compete clause preventing Fedor from fighting in the states for a set period of time following the fight.

With that said, I still think the UFC snagging Fedor at this point is highly unlikely.

Any particular reason why they released big Tim with one fight remaining on his contract?

It would be funny everyone in the HW division leaving, and then they sign fedor haha that'd be great.

It's probably Barnett. I would hope it's Fedor but I don't have the energy to invest in that again. I'll believe it when I see it. Until then I'll be getting ready for the best Fight Night card ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, That's probably WHY Fedor would sign. Less Competition, More chance of getting fedor!

Yeah, that's judgemental, but after Fedor's last few opponets, TELL me there aint at least a BIT of truth in that

im guessing its nog vs fedor, fedor wins, and stays UFC Champion and gets like a 5 fight contract and then randy cant fight him outside the ufc. So dana is gonna make randy more pissed.

i have aquestion... with EXC, Dream, M-1 and Bodog? .....

if all these groups have one or two fighters worthy of UFC contracts... why the hell do any of themthink that they are gonna be the biggest Organization.
